IggyPS 5 Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Hello, This is an issue I noticed today both on the Android TV app and on the web browser player. I am attaching a screenshot from the 4K version of Carlito's Way. Notice the subtitles position. And note that this is only on 4K content. Subtitles on other content are ok. Anyone else with this issue? Any ideas for solutions?
Luke 42083 Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Hi there, can we please look at an example? Thanks !
pwhodges 2012 Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 What type of subtitles are they, and where di they come from? Sometimes you come across subtitles which are intended for a different resolution, and contain the expected resolution. Some programs will adjust them to fit, but others don't bother. I know that PGS subtitles intended for a higher resolution than they are being used with will render offscreen in Emby at present, so it is possible that your subtitles have not had their resolution updated from HD to 4K, and so are similarly rendering in the top-left 1080p part of the image. Paul Embedded subs. I think I missed the important bit of information that this just started happening randomly yesterday. Before that, they always worked perfectly on all the same content. @Luke I will get the logs today after work, if that is what you meant by example.

BTW, what do you mean by this? How would one update PGS subtitles from HD to 4K?
pwhodges 2012 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 I've no idea - sorry! I can do it for ASS, but I've no programs that handle PGS other than offering to OCR it. Paul
softworkz 5072 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 @IggyPS Please post an ffmpeg from that playback situation. Thanks
ulanov 16 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Suspect this may be related to my reported bug - I think the captioning/sub-title function(s) are not working entirely correctly in the new server, at least in the web browser and Android players.

That's not related. Please attach an ffmpeg log from this example. Thanks.

IggyPS 5 Posted May 20, 2022 Author Posted May 20, 2022 Well, I don't know. I tried to replicate it today, but the subtitles were fine. The only thing I did was to rescan the library files. Usually things don't work after they work but you try to show them to someone. But in this case things work after they didn't work and I tried to show it lol.

Without logs, I can't see what has changed We do have a fix for the actual problem, but it's not included in any release yet.
