So, ads. I've recorded stuff and want to remove the ads, not mark them. Ive tried manually, just using avidemux, this is a little on the slow side but pretty successful. I've tried MCE buddy, which chugs through them happily, but is not so good results wise.

Hence, am wondering

- would there be a way to say look at a file and mark chapters to delete (eg if I look in vlc on the timeline at the bottom the only markers are for adverts) and automatically remove those that are marked, or

- automatically, using ffmpeg or something, to scan for chapters less than, say 70 seconds long and remove the ones it finds.

or is there a plugin that does this ?

HI, I would check out comskip.

This may not be what you're looking for and it is also a paid solution, but I use Video Redo. There is an ad scanner in the software that does a pretty accurate job and it's very easy to then scan through manually and cut the commercials out that it marks. You can also adjust it pretty easily if it doesn't cut them exactly right but I have found it more accurate than MCEBuddy or even comskip alone and I have used them both.

Thanks for suggestions. I'll take a look.

Just to mention again that it seems a pity that Ads are marked already but they don't seem to be removable by a program anywhere (vlc timeline) -

I don't do anything. They just appear. They're PlayOn recordings from think Peacock and IMDB TV though.
