Movie Showing up Twice

Recommended Posts

Duplicate movies being displayed has always been an issue for Emby (at least for me) when it came to the recommendations section and it never really bothered me, but now it's happening in a lot of my collections.  And it's very annoying.   Any help with a fix?

@adamstewiegreen Do you actually have multiple versions in your setup?  But don't believe I have ever seen this.

Do they both go to the same place?  You can see path via right click edit metadata on each.

I don't normally see this.  But today I am rebuilding a complete server, and I noticed that one series was duplicated - and yes, there was only one copy on disk, and the metadata for both was the same.

By chance this alerted me to the fact that I needed to replace the files (they were very low resolution, from the time when I re-encoded everything to view on an iPhone 3Gs!), so I deleted the directory, but only one of the two copies in the library disappeared.  This is not definitive, though, as that library is still being scanned (it'll take about 24 hours in all).

They are definitely not duplicates and only show up as such in Collections and in "More like this"

In edit metadata all the duplicates point to the same file.

However, if I change the poster, the duplicate poster does not change.

So on the "Home Page" (in this case the "Latest Movies" section) they (in this case Evangelion and Sonic) do not show up as duplicates.

Any thoughts on fixing this?

If you're certain you only have one copy of the movie, try moving the offending video files out of the library, running a full scan of all libraries to clean out the database, and then adding them back.

i had an issue that turned out to be incorrect naming on trailers causing this issue.

just an idea.

So, I deleted a bunch of my plugins to try to fix a different problem, and all the duplicates went away  ...  go figure ...

Sorry to revive an old thred..... but Ive seen this happening quite frequently recently

I have my server running on windows PC

Duplicates dont show in home screen or in the main library view. Does do it for every movie and those it does do it for I cannot see anything within the movie root folder to indicate any additional video files

Only seems to be an issue in the collections and when I view an actor's profile screen

Hi, try removing the video file from your library, then running a scan of all libraries to clean out the database, and then adding it back.

Hello,

I have exactly the same issue since few months : lot of movies are showns twice only in collection, actor or search view (but only on real file on the server). I'm also on a Windows install.

The problem appears first when I migrated my file-server to another one, so I edited my libraries to remove old paths and add new ones.

But, now my server is totally migrated, and I still have this issue for new movies added few days ago. I don't understand why this is happening.

Has anyone managed to resolve this bug?

Thanks !

Edit : With one exemple

Spider-Man in the search : some duplicates

When I open the saga : the same duplicates

In the library / all movies view, everything is fine :

Almost the same problem.
I'm sure there are no duplicates but emby only finds one, and duplicates the hell out of it. This is a whole season. I can access the shared folder from my windows machine and I can see the actual files. Emby only sees one multiple times and it does not see the others. I have tried to delete the folder, did a full scann, copyed the whole folder again, did a full scan again and the same problem appeared. Also no matter which one I start, all shows the same progress and again, I can't see the other ones at all.

If his computer has malware on it he can try running malwarebytes hopefully it can solve his problem.

What makes you think it does?

No, it's Emby producing that, due to faulty naming of files

The layout and file naming isn't following our recommended naming convention.

There is not season-episode numbering in the naming to use looking up the episode.
Every episode has the same name.

Once the files are renamed using the recommended naming conventions the issue should resolve itself with a library scan.
