Fling audio from Emby Web or Theatre to Kodi player or something else

I have a Raspberry Pi with LibreElec in a room connected to an amplifier. Is there any way to send music from an Emby player (Desktop app or browser app) and have it play on Kodi or some other player on the Pi?

I can add my libraries to Kodi but not really satisfied with using a remote control and using the Kodi webserver or some other app. I like Emby and would love to be able to send the music somewhere else.

I don't have to use Kodi, so can install anything to receive audio from. I know there's a cast icon but I can't find anything to put on the Pi that I can cast to.

Airplay and UPnP are enabled on Kodi.

Hi, yes you can use remote control features in the emby web app to send media to other apps.

That's good to hear but how can I do this and what do I need to install on my pi to do this?

Hi, have you explored clicking the cast icon in the upper right of the web app?

Yes and the cast only shows chrome cast receivers

Try doing it with Kodi running.

Kodi is running. It's on a pi server.

I tried some other apps from the phone and they see my Kodi instance.

Emby doesn't. Emby server is running on a docker container. Could this be an issue?

Well for one kodi should be signed in with the same emby user. Emby uses a web socket connection for remote control so you'll want to make sure the docker container is not configured in a way that might prevent that from working.

Ok,  you mean I should install an emby plugin inside kodi? This I can do and that be would fine.

I will test it.

Oh I assumed you were using one of the Kodi plugins for emby.

But without those you can still cast to Kodi using regular dlna.

I can install a plugin and test.

It's not finding my dlna player like other cast apps which is why I wonder if it being in a docker container is a problem. Although, the chrome cast receivers are found.

Best guess would be the network options on your docker container. Try setting it to host networking mode, if it's not already.

I did a fresh install of LibreElec and installed the Emby next-gen plugin.

The player is detected and now I can use the browser interface to play music so this is satisfactory.

I use bridge mode and have samba shares mounted in Docker and switching to host mode caused problems I don't have time to fix right now but can test another time.

Thanks for your help
