Bigmixer 1 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I was attempting to play a file “The Office (US) (2005) - S08E01 - The List” which we have played multiple times, however, I am now receiving the “too many errors, moving on” Error. I sent the log through the Roku TV app at 10:05 pm Eastern BMWEmby was the user trying the file. Luke 42080 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log as well? Thanks.
Bigmixer 1 Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 How do I do that without posting my server address?
Bigmixer 1 Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 embyserver-63787824000-ip removed.txt I think this takes care of it.
ebr 16185 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Hi. This looks to be the root of the issue: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (40): Too many levels of symbolic links What is your file system setup? Is it possible you've created a circular reference somehow?
Bigmixer 1 Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 I am not sure what would cause that. What file system setup are you referring to?
Bigmixer 1 Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 (edited) I am running Emby from a docker in Unraid. I have been for several years. This started this week. The file works everywhere else. Edited May 11, 2022 by Bigmixer Added information

I will have to claim ignorance here - not sure of the definition of symbolic links. I use Unraid as the server, Emby as a docker. The container path is /media and I have shares named Movies and TV. Sorry about being unknowledgeable about this. I did not do anything special to create a symlink in the Unraid code. Something changed just this week. My wife and son have played these files multiple times.
ebr 16185 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Perhaps @cayars can help get to the bottom of it...
Carlo 4561 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 You need to switch to relative symlinks if using docker otherwise Emby won't have proper access. Plex and Channels DVR users have the same issues as well. Any media server or program that try's to look at file properties will faiil. Here's a reddit post with fix. It's written for Plex but same thing. See if that helps you at all but if it doesn't let me know and we can setup a remote session and I'll take a look for you. Carlo
Happy2Play 9781 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 @AbobaderWas going to ask what is wrong with the link but it would appear to be an Edge Browser issue. vs Chrome

Carlo Thank you @cayars I will give that a try. Question though, if I have been using Emby for multiple years (at least 5), this file has been used multiple times, the file still works on other devices, why is this just starting this week?
Carlo 4561 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 That's the million dollar question isn't it? When I'm paid I'll get you that answer. LOL It could be as simple as something was updated that changed functionality. We still don't know if that's the answer or not but it matches this situation. My only thought at the moment is the error message about "Too many levels of symbolic links". If you'd like me to remote in with a desktop sharing app and then together look at it let me know. Carlo

Carlo Well, thank you so much for the help. I finally was able to get home and check the device that was failing. I did see a Emby docker update earlier today and I ran it. The update corrected the issues across all devices. 1

Just noticed there is an official server app in the store. I will try to convert over if I can export all my settings. I don’t remember having the choice when I set this up years ago.

Abobader 3464 Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 @Happy2Play I test it with Edge browser as well, and the link show fine.
