PeterEr 2 Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Emby automatically adds content to the Collections folder, however I have some folders that should not be included in the Collections folder. If I manually delete items from the Collections folder, it is automatically recreated at a later point. I am looking for a setting with something like 'don't include this archive/folder in collections'. Is that possible? Using Emby 4.6.7.0 / Windows 10.
PeterEr 2 Posted May 19, 2022 Author Posted May 19, 2022 Apologies for the late reply. I have unchecked that option but still the data is added to the collections-folder. Perhaps the 'add to collections'-routine is initiated somewhere else in the system? Is this routine (i.e. add to collection) called on "Scan Library Files", "Refresh Metadata" or other routine operations?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 If I understand correctly, you will have to manually remove all items from collections that belong to this library as they have already been imported into their provider collection as disabling the library import into collection option does not remove already imported information.
PeterEr 2 Posted May 19, 2022 Author Posted May 19, 2022 (edited) @Happy2Play - I cannot prevent collections being made from certain folders. E.g. I have an ABC folder at e:\ABC\ - I do not want any of the items from that folder to appear in Collections. The metadata from the items in the ABC folder is used to auto-create data in the Collections folder. The metadata used to create the Collections data is specifically the 'Studios'-meta tag. From the .nfo xml file this is the data I see being used that is used to generate a collection in the Collections folder: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <movie> .... <set> <name>Some studio</name> </set> .... </movie> Now, 'Some studio' will appear in the Collections folder. I want to block ABC items from appearing all together in Collections as they have no business being there. I have removed everything manually related to the ABC folder from Collections a few times, but things are getting recreated again and again. Edited May 19, 2022 by PeterEr Better explanation
Happy2Play 9782 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 If your media has <set> nodes then Collections will be made as the node is honored. @Lukesince the UI only has a option of 1-4 can this be manually set to a higher value in the library options.xml <MinCollectionItems>? Or a option to ignore <set> in specific library? @PeterErBut why is this "Studios" being written to this node? What is writing it to this node?
Luke 42080 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 I suppose you might be able to hack the config file to do that.

'Some studio' is added when Emby is matching via Imdb, TMDB, thetvdb etc and finally metadata is written to the nfo file. I suppose this is also triggered manually when you do 'Refresh metadata'. It would indeed be great if Emby could be configured to avoid creating collections for certain folders.

Emby does not do this, Emby will write a provider collection name (unless you are calling it "Some Studio" but a real example would be better. You can change the specific library options.xml <MinCollectionItems> to say 99 or higher and as I have no idea what how many of these "studio" collection items you have and restart Emby. Then delete the collection and see if it is recreated.

'Some Studio' is just an example of what could be added to the <set>-tag. Real world examples include Marvel, Warner Brothers, Disney Studios, independent indie studios and so on. I do not edit the nfo files myself. Data is retrieved from the services mentioned before.

Sorry but Real example works better as Emby does not write studios to set node it writes really provider Collections from only TMDB. Like this Alien Collection — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org)

Happy2Play 9782 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Don't know who made the plugin, but your only options is to test changing the <MinCollectionItems> value.
PeterEr 2 Posted May 19, 2022 Author Posted May 19, 2022 I have to edit options.xml in the Collections metadata folder, correct? If so, won't the MinCollectionItems affect everything in the future for Collections also from other folders? I still need collections to be created but just not for certain folders.

No you edit the options.xml for the library you don't want collections for. This affects a specific library.
PeterEr 2 Posted May 19, 2022 Author Posted May 19, 2022 Okay thanks, I'll try that and get back with results. Where exactly is options.xml located for the specific folders provided my emby metadata folder is a e:\emby-metadata?

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but I found this setting under my TV Shows library advanced settings:

I assumed you were referring to a Library, as you assign folders to create a library. Now if the problem folder is a subfolder of an existing library there is nothing you can do as the option affect the entire library. Just not enough information to know.
