BlubberGuy 2 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Hi, yes I know of the naming Guide. First I did name my Anime with anidb Format (Filebot), but now I have switched to TVDB and now I have there some problems. The Library is setup to first use anidb and then tvdb scraper. The problem is that it does not properly recognize the stuff named with anidb. With the same name as online. Like: Danganronpa 3; The End of Kibougamine Gakuen - Kibou Hen - Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Kokousei\Danganronpa 3 The End of Hope`s Peak High School - 01 - TV Special Does not get recognized at all. When I am looking for this with Identify then it does not find anything. or Ajin\Season 1\Ajin - S01E01 - What Does That Stuff Have To Do With Us.mkv (tvdb) Ajin 2 (2016)\Ajin 2 (2016) - 01 - I Don`t Even Wanna Do This Anymore.mp4 (anidb) Interestingly, here the two Seasons get put together into one Entry, but it does not know what Season Ajin 2 is. That kinda sounds strange. Ahh.... is it because anidb does not know Seasons? Ikkitousen Shuugaku Toushi Keppuu-roku\Ikki Tousen Shuugaku Epic Battle - 01 - OVA Does not get recognized either. Is it becuase I had to remove the ";"? Mirai Nikki (2011)\ on the other hand works. Is there anything I have to do to make those Files named with anidb recognized better or do I seriously have to rename all of them?
Luke 42085 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Hi, what do you mean by Identify doesn't return anything? There is no Identify feature at the episode level.
BlubberGuy 2 Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 When I search for Ikkitousen: Shuugaku Toushi Keppuu-roku , the same Name as on anidb, it returns nothing When I search for: Ikki Tousen, the same Name as on TVDB, it returns only "Ikki Tousen Great Guardians", a Season name. But not the Series name itself. Is there an way to identify a Season separately?
pwhodges 2014 Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 TVDB calls it Ikki Tousen in Kyoto as a movie, or in the series lists it as special episode s00e19. I have to admit that I resolved all my anime naming problems by ditching the Anime plug-in and simply naming stuff the way that TVDB was happy with and sticking with TVDB. But you may feel you want additional info that TVDB doesn't provide which I'm happy to do without. Paul 1
BlubberGuy 2 Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 Ahh okay.... guess I will rename everything to TVDB, brughhh. Btw, can I increase the number of Genres it shows/scraps above five?
pwhodges 2014 Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 What genres it gets from the metadata providers is up to them (or those who bother to edit what they offer). But you can edit the metadata of a series yourself and add any genre you want. As for TVDB, as I said it, works for me (and I've got some pretty way-out anime); but some people do use the Anime plug-in's metadata providers successfully. I think the key thing is to be prepared to check out how your preferred provider names things and make sure to follow that for your files - and sometimes they won't do it the way you'd want or expect (prime example - the Monogatari series...) and you'll just have to put up with that... RanmaCanada 500 Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 As Paul says, anime is a mess. We really need someone from the community to step up and create an updated anime plugin. I've offered $100 bounty in the past, and it appears no one is interested. Luke has done what he can to maintain it, but in reality, it is not something he should be taking the time to do as he has more important things to deal with. A little hint for your extras that aren't in the tvdb, prefix them as S00ES00 ES is the season number. So season 1 would start at S00E100, season 2 would start at S00E200 and so on. Otherwise all your extras will get lumped in with each other and you will have to split them apart and have a mess. It's lots of fun to start an episode and have a textless opening or unidentified special start instead.
Luke 42085 Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I have actually been working on better parsing of season and episode numbers from typical anime file naming. Once that is ready, that will be a library option that you'll have to enable because it can cause problems with regular TV. So that may (or may not) help the anime plugin retrieve better results.
