GiGo 108 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 As I move more and more of my data over to cloud based services I realise that accessing emby from one location is a drain on my bandwidth. If my media is stored in the Cloud, why can't the emby server be stored there! As for a little experiement of mine in the last couple of days. I used the portable windows version of emby and put it on my Google Drive which I use to 'file stream' my data. It works BUT...... obviously some files go up and down depending on what I request to watch etc.... I have noticed that the 'user' and 'library' db along with a few others files get 'stuck' in my upload queue as I use the server, it's only when I shut the server down they upload correctly, which is fine for a single user and a single 'copy' of the server Say I wanted to watch one program and the wife another on different devices, both devices running a seperate copy of the server from the same location, these files would not be updated correctly if either of us made changes, I also noted that playback posistions also aren't stored if both copies of the server are running. I realise this may be a bit of a niche use case, but I was wondering if there is a way around this, or is there any plans to create a 'cloud edition' where by I can run multiple copies of the server on different devices all accessing a single pool of my media. Advantages for this I beleive would be that a copy of the server could be run by any device and each device would be able to handle media processing it's self rather than relying on another device to do all the 'heavy lifting', if older hardware can only handle one stream at a time then it's very useful. Just an idea I had and wondering if it was possible?
Luke 42083 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Hi, the playback positions are stored, it's just that each server would have it's own separate data.

When you say separate data, would that include the library db? Would be great if this was achievable and only have 1 library file.

It's currently not possible for two servers to share the same database, but the idea has come up before and is possible for the future. Thanks.
