PaulE123 20 Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 Hi all, quick question about libraries.... I've got say x2 libraries set up (I've more, but in context just consider these two) - "Movies" and "Movies (4K)". Within "Movies", I've got say the six original Sar Trek films, grouped and scraped as a collection. Within "Movies (4K)", I've got x1 of these Star Trek movies (Star Trek The Motion Picture) in 4K format. However, when browsing "Movies (4K)", the ALL of the six Star Trek films show up in this library for some reason, despite there being only x1 of them in 4K format. For clarity, I've got "Movies" and "Movies (4K)" in different source shares on my Unraid NAS too. I can't get my head around why the non-4K movies are showing in the 4K library, despite them being on different source shares, and in different Emby libraries. This happens for other movie collections too, if I had a HD film in a collection, and a 4K version elsewhere, the entire collection will show up in the 4K library.
PaulE123 20 Posted April 21, 2022 Author Posted April 21, 2022 Would having the versions "Grouped Together" cause this to happen? I've got the matching films grouped together to be able to select which version to play
PaulE123 20 Posted April 21, 2022 Author Posted April 21, 2022 Ok I've a solution of sorts, I had obviously at one point got my main Emby Movie library pointed to both HD and 4K share paths, and matching movies were 'grouped together' to allow me to choose which version of the movie I wanted to watch. This worked perfectly well, but at some point, it became hard to keep track of knowing what movies I had 4K versions of, without going into them and manually checking. This led me to splitting the libraries, as described above. I now have my main Movies library pointed at the share where my SD/HD movies are, and my "Movies 4K" library pointed at the share where the 4K movies are. The problem remained however, and it was because the 4K movies were part of the "Collection" that the SD/HD movies are part of. So I've ungrouped the 4K movies from within Emby, and then I've manually removed those movies from the associated Collection too. This allows the 4K movie to disappear when browsing the main "Movie" library, and only show up in the "Movies (4K)" library. This is great, but it leaves one small problem. I don't think I can have my 4K movies as part of a naturally scraped Collection anymore - because this collection already exists in Emby for the non-4K movies. Maybe I can create custom alternately named 4K collections to resolve that...
Mibok 158 Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 The collections are created automatically using TMDB collection ID from the Metadata. Every movie (star trek in your case) has a movie ID and along with the descriptions, rating and other information a collection id is downloaded if the movie is part of a collection. So is likely that emby groups the movies with the same collection ID no matter their location. You can try using coverart plugin so your 4k movies shows on the poster a banner with 4k resolution. Or you can edit the Metadata and delete the collection id, lock that field and run a library scan. 1
Luke 42083 Posted April 22, 2022 Posted April 22, 2022 Hi, where exactly do they show up together, just inside the collection?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted April 22, 2022 Posted April 22, 2022 Collections are more of a global item then a per library parentid restricted item. So this is normal to see every item on your server that belongs to a collection in every collection view. F9 is it two libraries but entered the collection from a specific library. Once you enter a collection, parentid is stripped from the query.
