Backup and Restore didn't seem to restore users... properly?

Users are listed, but they don't have their Connect ID attached.

And my main profile which is also the admin, didn't get imported over either... so I have to reconfigure my entire profile again.

Any thoughts that might explain this?

I migrated from a Windows Server to Ubuntu 20.04, backing up on Windows and restoring on the Linux box.

Anything would be appreciated. Thank you!

This process does not backup and restore Connect user information only local users.

Hi.  If you restore your server, Connect attachments are not carried forward.  You will need to re-link the connect accounts.

You can do this by blanking out the connect field and saving and then filling it back in and saving.

Thanks.

Gotcha, that's unfortunate. What about my primary admin user? Am I going to have to reconfigure it all or should I just move my connect info into that user, leave the admin user blank? Didn't really want to do that, cause I want to be able to manage the server on the same profile.

Edit, nevermind. Looks like if I just swap them out it restores my stuff and I can delete the default admin account. Cool. Sorry to bother.

I would check your backup to see if it actually has all your users, but something like this has never been reported.

Assuming the backup has the user you can try to do a user restore again.

Note if you still have the old install you can copy the users.db over as it would have all the users and already linked usernames. (but image paths will probably be a issue if you have user images.

Where the plugin exports user to be imported in to NEW databases.

Out of curiosity, if I wanted the migration to be seamless for users (e.g. not have to reselect servers, redownload stuff again) what would be the best way to go about that? Because I thought this backup plugin was best practice, but it seems it's for a different use case.

Cross platforms have no good answer as no path is compatible in a cross platform migration.  Same platform is a simple copy and paste of Emby programdata folder.

All righty, thanks. Good to know! I'll keep trucking on with this I suppose.
