starslayer74 1 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 I have an HDHomerun Servio for the DVR service from HDHomerun, but for some reason I can't get Emby to see the recordings I already have there, and I when I try to set my default recording folder to the Servio, I get the error message "Emby Server requires write access to this folder. Please ensure write access and try again." Any ideas on how to resolve this? I have searched around but can't find anything concrete.
Luke 42078 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Hi there, what platform are you running emby server on?

Luke 42078 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Did you install the server app into internal storage on the shield, or external?

Luke 42078 Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Where is the Servioo storage, is it also on the Shield?

If you are attempting to access the Servio file system, the folks here at Emby are great, but you may be better served if you ask this question on the SiliconDust forums. They would be in a better position to answer questions on remote access to the file system on the Servio.

Servio is a standalone DVR storage drive that works in conjunction with the HDHomerun devices - so it plugs into my router and HDHomerun automatically picks it up as local storage for DVR. I have been using the HDHomerun application and Kodi up until now, and there is nothing to configure, if HDHomerun is detected, it automatically records to the Servio.... but with Emby it isn't doing this, instead it's recording to the hard drive my Emby server is installed on.

TBH their forums aren't all that great.
richt 94 Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 I only mention this as I have a vague recollection about remote access being restricted on their devices. Could be my faulty memory, but you would still need to know the protocol and security settings used on the Servio. pwhodges 2012 Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Emby is a server you install yourself on your equipment, so you determine what the address is. Once installed you add your media to it and use its clients to access it. Paul
