jackthedoc 12 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 I have had trouble trying to play UHD movies on my LG OLED TV via my Chrome with Google TV dongle from my Emby server (which is on a powerful Windows PC). I have searched the archives for an answer to my query, but articles that initially appear to be related to my problem rapidly veer off in directions with technical explanations that leave me breathless. When I begin to watch a UHD movie, I reduce the audio to a lower quality soundtrack if one is available (I think I read somewhere that that reduces the transcoding stress, or whatever, of the file in question) but I still get pausing every few minutes and this is driving me crazy. I have all my devices logged into a mesh Wi-Fi network (with 2.4 and 5 GHz signals) and wonder if there could be an issue with the "mixing" of these; I gather 2.4 GHz have greater range but less "power" than the 5 GHz. Could this be a cause of my problem. I live in Australia and wonder if there are any country-specific settings that I should apply to my Chromecast with Google TV dongle or my TV or my Emby server? What video settings should I have as default on any or all of these components? I realise that this enquiry is a bit wandery, but I am not au fait with the deep technical issues involved and don't quite know how I should go about testing the various parameters that constitute the "connection" between my server and my receiver. Hope somebody can advise me. Thanks in anticipation John Norris
