GreenRyuu 0 Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Whenever I skip forward a video that has ASS subtitles, the subtitles start going faster than the audio. This only happens while on a remote connection. One way to fix this was to change the "Internet Quality in the Playback" setting to 1080p - 10Mbps on the client which does direct play, but this is a solution that has to be done manually by each device/user which is not ideal. So, I tried to change the "Internet streaming bitrate limit (Mbps)" in Network settings to use only 10Mbps(leaving the client Internet Quality on auto) which is the same as setting it manually for each device, but that does not work, it transcodes and when I skip forward, the same issue happens. Also at some point before, I disabled the "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" in the Transcoding setting which made it work, I was able to skip forward with no problem but right now if I disable it, it does not event play, I get the error: "Playback Error - No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details". I uploaded the embyserver and transcode log. I would appreciate any help that i can get, thanks. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-0abc704e-80ad-4f42-a2f6-929a35ee9c2c_1.txt
Luke 42078 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Hi, what example is this from, when you got the error?
GreenRyuu 0 Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 Yes, this is when the subtitles start going faster
Luke 42078 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 So that's when you got the error on screen or when they started going faster?
GreenRyuu 0 Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 I did not upload anything related about the playback error that I got as I do not want to disable "allow subtitle extraction on the fly". I only mentioned that because it was a temporary solution for the subtitles going faster and now it does not even work as a temporary solution.
Luke 42078 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Unrelated question but why do you think that the server bitrate limit doesn't work? If it causes transcoding then it's doing what it's supposed to do. You can't lower the bitrate without transcoding.
GreenRyuu 0 Posted April 19, 2022 Author Posted April 19, 2022 I am so sorry, my mistake. I misinterpreted what the server bitrate limit does. The server bitrate limit was disabled by default and I left it like that, so scratch that. So the post should be like this(i made some edits): Whenever I skip forward a video that has ASS subtitles, the subtitles start going faster than the audio. This only happens while on a remote connection. One way to fix this was to change the "Internet Quality" in the Playback setting to 1080p - 10Mbps on the client which does direct play(when I leave it on auto, it transcodes), but this is a solution that has to be done manually by each device/user which is not ideal. I uploaded the embyserver and transcode log for when the issue happened. Also at some point before, I disabled the "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" in the Transcoding setting which made it work, I was able to skip forward and subtitles would not go faster but right now if I disable it, it does not event play, I get the error: "Playback Error - No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details". THE ONLY REASON I MENTIONED THIS, IS BECAUSE IT WAS A WORKAROUND AND NOW IT DOES NOT WORK.
GreenRyuu 0 Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 (edited) UPDATED: This happens in all the clients, except emby theather and the webclient. Looks like a player issue. I also have started a Jellyfin server with all the same libraries and it does play without issues while on remote connection. Edited April 23, 2022 by GreenRyuu
