MortigiTempo 6 Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 I just got a new TV and I’m looking to find what devices support the option to change the playback speed. I’m currently using 2 NVidia Shields, but I was hoping there was a cheaper option. I know it won’t work with Roku devices, but what about a Fire stick or a Chromecast? Do any others devices work? Do any TV apps work (like apps specifically for LG or Samsung televisions)? Any info or personal experience is appreciated.
Solution ebr 16195 Posted April 8, 2022 Solution Posted April 8, 2022 Hi. The Fire and Chromecast run the same app as your Shield so they will work. Thanks. 1
MortigiTempo 6 Posted April 11, 2022 Author Posted April 11, 2022 I got a Fire Stick 4K. It does technically work, but it's an awful experience. At the first speed (1.25) it's pretty jerky and at the second speed (1.50) speed I found it to be unwatchable. I'm going to return it and try the beefier Fire Cube since I've seen at least one user mention being happy with it for adjusting speed. If anyone else comes along in a similar boat, avoid the sticks.

Before you return it, try something. If you select correct playback or fix playback (sorry I don't know what is displayed in English since I have another language selected on my stick) and then you change the speed, you will have a smooth accelerated video. its a pain to do it every time but it works for me. weirdly on my mibox, it works without needing to do that. They both have the last version of the app. 1

I only gave it a brief test, but selecting Playback Correction worked. How strange! I'll be able to run a few episodes through with it on tomorrow to give it a longer test. It's always worked perfectly on my Shields, so I really figured a streaming stick just wasn't cut out for it. I wonder why that works. Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it!
badous 17 Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 You are welcome. That is one of the best features in emby, its a shame this one doesn't work directly on the fire stick.
