agottschling 2 Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Good afternoon, I'm currently in the process of migrating my Emby server to new hardware. I'd like, if possible, to migrate the existing installation in place. The last time I did this, I had to manually correct quite a lot of my library's metadata and would rather not go through that process again. I've considered simply cloning the existing server, which would work, but as the hardware is significantly newer, I'm a bit worried about that. Is there a file or folder that I could migrate to the new install instead? Or can I better use the backup plugin to do what I'm trying accomplish? Any help and suggestions are appreciated. Current box is a Fedora Server install, and all media is accessed over NFS sshares
Luke 42078 Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Hi, please check out our backup guide: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159936-backup And let us know if you have additional questions. Thanks.
agottschling 2 Posted April 6, 2022 Author Posted April 6, 2022 So, is there any reason that those directories need to be excluded? That seems like emby is going to recreate the library no matter which option in choose.
agottschling 2 Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 Maybe I'm just reading it incorrectly, but I see that the library file is getting backed up when doing everything manually. Is that also carried over in the Server config backup plugin? On another note. Is there any reason not to just grab the whole 'ProgramData' directory when migrating? Would that break things?
