Low Framerate on FireTV Cube

I'm experiencing a new problem after many many months of flawless playback.

On my FireTV Cube I am getting a frame every second or so when i play h.265 content.  If I turn on closed captioning the video returns to a normal framerate... if I switch it off i get the same issue.

On my AppleTV HD I noticed that there is a reduced framerate for the first few seconds but then it straightens out and plays normally.

I didnt change anything on the client end, so my suspicion is that a recent Emby update has introduced some changes that affect me as I have had no problem with this type of content in the past.
