Having trouble adding an old show with same name as newer show.

I had the new Hardy Boys folder named Hardy Boys. I want to add the 1995 show. I renamed the folder and episodes to Hardy Boys to Hardy Boys (2020) and did a scan. I then added the '95 version as just Hardy Boys. I did a scan and it added just the episodes as the 2020 version. I copied the tvshow.nfo and edited it for the '95 version and added it to the root of the folder and scanned but it is ignoring it and adding the episodes to the 2020 version still.

Do I need to add an nfo for the season or change the older name to add (1995) to it?

Thanks.

HI, try using the Identify feature on the series in emby server and see if that helps.

If it is just adding both The Hardy Boys and The Hardy Boys (2020) directories to the same show, how would I do that for the individual folder though?

NEVERMIND!!!!!!

I didn't realize that the Metadata Manager listed the two folders individually. It has been a few years since I had to go into that.

Thanks!!!!!!!

Ok same problem different show except Metadata Manager is not listed the show by itself like it did for Hardy Boys.

The House Across the Street is automatically being identified as The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. When I had this problem with The Hardy Boys, Metadata Manager listed them individually but it is not doing that this time.

@mgworek Do you have "Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders" enabled on the library?

Worst cast use providerid in folder name similar to movies

ID Tags in Folder & File Names
Emby can also read a Meta-Data ID from the name.

Format:

Name (Year) [tmdbid=xxxx]
Example:

Alone (2020) [tmdbid=509635]
Emby supports the following tags with the host website for lookup.

tmdbid (https://www.themoviedb.org/)
imdbid (https://www.imdb.com/)
tvdbid (https://thetvdb.com/)

I will check that out tomorrow. Not sure since I didn’t have to worry about it before but so I guess the question then is, with my previous/original post with Hardy Boys, it merged 2 different ones but still showed them separately in the manager and I could correct it. This time, I’m not even seeing the new one to correct is thetvdb has this new show, why is it taking the short folder name and assuming it is the other show?  I will look at my settings tomorrow. I know I can fix it ma sully editing the nfo file.

thanks.

Hard to say exactly without server log for when the series was imported and identified.  As they may have not been merged but where unidentified and only visible via folder view or MM.

I forgot about folder view, something else I will try later today when I get the chance to test. I meant to include the fresh server log, I purposely restarted the server to get a fresh log and forgot, sorry about that. I will try out a few things and if all else false, do a fresh scan/import and attach the log.

Thanks again

It's not coming up under folder view either. My appointment this morning is delayed so, going to remove the folder, do a scan, restart the server and add it back and do a scan and get you guys a fresh log.

Thanks

I do have Automatically merge series checked. I am going to leave it checked for now while I get you guys logs just in case there is something you guys should see in the logs since both shows are from the same year and thetvdb have them both and the server is thinking the short name show is the very long named show. 😂

You should just do as @Happy2Play suggested and append folder names with providerid:

The House Across the Street (2022) [tvdbid=425909]

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022) [tvdbid=390537]

Run a scan and it'll sort itself out.

I was able to to fix it with unchecking Automatically merge series and manually identifying it. Not sure why I couldn't see it in Metadata Manager like I could with hardy boys that i explained above but doesn't matter.

Here are the logs if interested when merge was still checked and I couldn't see it in MM or folder view.
