King Pin 34 Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 I've been using the same simple structure forever and now all of a sudden my new uploads are a mess. \TV \Seinfeld (1989) Seinfeld S01E01.mp4 Seinfeld S01E02.mp4 Now I am not getting any metadata coming up, No episode title or episode description. Sometimes I even get episodes from a different season in the wrong place. eg S04E19 will be in S02E05 I'm sure it's something I've messed up I just don't know what.
Luke 42081 Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 @King Pin Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log from when you added Seinfeld or those Criminal Minds episodes? Thanks !
King Pin 34 Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 Hey Luke. How do I find that specific Log? I have 23 entries in the Log dpt right now. When I first loaded Criminal Minds the format was like this. Criminal Minds Season 01 Episode 01 - Extreme Aggressor But it seems to be hit or miss on wether it works. So I renamed everything like my older files that I always used as shown above.
King Pin 34 Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 (edited) I renamed them when they were already uploaded in my NAS/Emby folder. I wonder if I should have done that externally and then uploaded it back into Emby. Edited March 31, 2022 by King Pin

That's okay, Emby would have picked up the changes dynamically if Real Time Monitoring is enabled (which I can see in your screenshot, it is) 2 hours ago, King Pin said: How do I find that specific Log? Just find the embyserver.log file that has timestamps that cover the period where you uploaded or moved those files. 1

I have 24 log files but they don't go that far back. I guess I could remove the whole Criminal Minds Folder and then reupload it? Should I have Enable debug logging on?

Yes, you could try removing and adding again. Don't know that debug logs are necessary, but it wouldn't hurt as long as you remember to switch it off once you've captured the log. 1
King Pin 34 Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 So I deleted the folder and then transferred over my backup copy and everything looks perfect right now. I guess the lesson learned is to do any or as much editing before transferring any files over to emby. 1 1

King Pin 34 Posted April 1, 2022 Author Posted April 1, 2022 4 hours ago, Luke said: What is the problem? I was told it was a known issue that the shuffle/random play will repeat the same episodes. I'll put a show on random play and almost everytime it will play the same episodes as the previous time just in a different order.

Isn't that what shuffle is supposed to do? It's random. It doesn't take into account when you last played a particular episode.
Luke 42081 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Ok I'll get with cayars but it does not use the same order. It uses a random sorting in the database. 1
