MikeB111 60 Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 When I first set up my TV shows library I did not select the option to "Save artwork into media folders." Didn't really know what I was doing at the time and did not understand the value of this option. But with more experience I see a real benefit in this option. I do sometimes select different images for seasons or shows, especially because I like everything to match and the default season images sometimes don't. By saving artwork into media folders all these changes will be maintained if I ever have to set up the server from scratch again. That's a huge benefit! First question, it seems that this option also saves the .nfo file (metadata) with the media in addition to the artwork, is this correct? Second question. I've selected this option in my TV shows library now but I had already added all my shows to the library and customized their artwork. So it seems that the artwork is still saved in the Emby server folder and not the media folders. Is there any way I can get Emby to copy all that info into the media folders now, saving the customizations I've done? Or is my only option to delete the library, recreate it with this option selected from the start, and then re-do any image customizations all by hand? Thanks!

It is not, NFO Saver is separate option within Library settings, irrespective of artwork (and always advisable for retaining custom edits). 1 hour ago, MikeB111 said: Second question. Saving artwork into media folders will automatically apply only to newly added content going onwards; for existing content, Refresh Metadata with Replace images is needed, which would overwrite your custom artwork so it's a no-go. You can, however, use @mickle026's Backup Plugin which will, amongst others, backup various Movies/Series/Episodes images/metadata to custom location from where you can subsequently retrieve it. Note that plugin itself is in the relatively early stages of development so occasional hiccup might be encountered - as well as your using it is under own risk. MikeB111 60 Posted March 27, 2022 Author Posted March 27, 2022 Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at the backup plugin. Also just to clarify my understanding (and if I can't get the backup plugin working for what I need), if I were to "Refresh Metadata" with "Replace images" selected, would that then place the .nfo and image files in my media directory? I understand that you're saying it would also replace everything with defaults from the internet again, but would it at least save everything in the media location also? Thanks!

Yes.
MikeB111 60 Posted March 27, 2022 Author Posted March 27, 2022 oh, right. I did see the NFO saver option also, which I do have selected. Thank you for making that clear, definitely an important option to select as well I think. I'll give it a try and report back. Thanks
