Any chance that TVE is in the works yet? I am reading other forum posts that say it can use the TVE from channelsdvr, but it's only working with the m3u files I manually put in there. It doesn't output a TVE m3u or setting.

I know you guys have a billion things on your plate but it's the future now! LOL. Anyhow, has any work been attempted on this? ChannelsDVR seems to have it very well figured out and some of the users over there even have streams not in TVE working as posted here (I'm RyzenBeast, BTW):

https://community.getchannels.com/t/frndly-tv-with-python-on-windows-without-docker-the-easy-way/40297

and here:

https://community.getchannels.com/t/frndly-tv-for-channels/29078

Git code here:

https://github.com/matthuisman/frndlytv-for-channels

I should add that this in not the Git for the actual TVE implementation but is for adding frndlyTV to ChannelsDVR so I thought it might lend some light into implementation into Emby for TVE in general.

@Lukeif time allows, this could be a paid add on with a monthly or yearly fee?

@Luke, man, I'd love to see this...  I just learned of both TVE (yes, I was klewless! lol) and Channels: that it was everything I'd wished existed to gain access to the two cable subscriptions I have with Spectrum in the north and Xfinity in the south . And there it is...TVE.  So I subscribed to a Channels account yesterday.

But I like the Emby experience by orders of magnitude more -- manner of storing recordings and its metadata, Library UI, Admin UI, countless more ways -- and would switch to Emby TVE without question. So TVE integration even if a paid-for add-on service to my lifetime emby subscription would make that emby sub way way more valuable to me.

Instead, for the time being, I'm manually categorizing TVE sourced Channels recordings that are placed all together under the 'global' folders that it uses into uniquely names folders and moving those into my Emby library folders; I love that Emby uses separate folders for media and really dislike that Channels does not.  A needless chore I hope can be ended by Emby supporting TVE streaming.  😎

Hmmm .... So, just found something that takes the edge off.  In a discussion in another thread the last post included the following URL:

http://X.X.X.X:8089/devices/ANY/channels.m3u?format=ts

Just tried it; additionally filtering by group "Favorites". And I got all the Channels channels (lol) I had marked as Favorites!

Only unfortunate thing that remains though is mapping of the Guide data isn't automatic from the M3U (? cuz it uses 'tvg-id' instead of what Emby uses,  url-tvg or x-tvg-url?) A few channels are mapped by name but very few; seems too the TV Go / TV Everywhere set of channels don't map directly to my normal cable service, like those duplicate channels that end with 'P' and have a slightly different schedule to the non-P counterparts.  Some can be manually mapped; but haven't figured out where those listings for the 'P' channels will come from in emby.  Kinda sucks up front.  But once done I think this will be fantastic.

The thread you posted in is requesting Emby to implement TVE natively rather than buy using M3U's created by Channels DVR.  You should probably post in the Channels DVR Integration thread here:

@them8os235,

What did you use for the xml guide data in Emby? If you use http://x.x.x.x:8089/devices/ANY/guide/xmltv?duration=1209600 as the source, Emby will pull the data from your CDVR server. You mention the "P" channels, are you talking about something like TNT and TNTP?

I appreciate the link.  Pretty funny tho, as that's the very thread I was referring to where I learned how to get the M3U. :D

Will clarify too and add, that's what I meant by "...just found something that takes the edge off."  As the post you're taking issue with is a follow-up to mine immediately above it, verbosely advocating to "implement TVE natively".  ;)  No worries.  Thanks for the pointer.

Yes, 100%.  At risk of digressing more ... Been trying different search terms but can't find a definitive answer as to what TNTP, FXXP, etc are.  Do you know?  One of the chatbots guessed P stood for Premium but I'll take that w/a grain of salt until I get confirmation.

I'm a neophyte in this world. Was not using an XML guide but will definitely take your direction.  Big thanks!

Instead brute forcing it by using Emby Guide Data for my regional service providers and manually mapping channels I care about.  Need to mix and match multiple providers, even using OTA for some channels. I was surprised to discover that TVE gives me channels thru my cable provider that my provider doesn't carry thru their set top box but I can get OTA or from another cable service provider.  I need to learn more about the mechanics of it.

Not TVE, but I was able to get ADBTuner working in Emby.  Just added the m3u URL and mapped the guide data.  That might be enough for me to move my recordings to Emby.  Right now Channels is pretty stable for me on recording, but it would be nice to just have 1 interface to deal with.

Playing with ADBTuner myself in Emby.  Which service are you using (Hulu, YTTV, Fubo) and what is your guide source (Emby, XML, etc)?

Thanks,

I am using YTTV, and mapping Emby Guide data if I recall.  Technically I didn't change to Emby for recording, but I believe that is how I tested when I originally was playing with it.

Is ADBTuner still working for you?
Did you ever try the HDMITuner?

I use adbtuner In channels DVR and have never tried anything else.

I'm not really using it in emby, but it's still set up and working. I just tested to be sure.

Ditto.  I'm slowing working on setting Emby up to see if I can bypass Channels DVR altogether.  Between JellyFin, Emby and Channels, all have their pluses and minuses.  Channels is easiest to configure but user interface is in need of a major overhaul and they need to incorporate Open Subittle downloads.  JF is very flexible but lack of true commercial skip is a WAF killer, and Emby's limitation on getting guide data outside of their built in repository (as compared to Channels) and just figuring out how to get Comskip to work properly in Synology.  Good news is I like to tinker, so I'm working my way slowly through the limitations.

Still no Emby native tuner for TVE, right? One still needs to have and pay for Channels DVR correct? I'd be willing to pay a monthly fee to Emby to do this directly.

Will this be in the TVNext coming soon?

As far as I can tell, no native TVE support yet.  Between OTA, FuboTV Project, EPlusTV, and ADBTuner I can get all the sources into Emby easily without using Channels(basic knowledge of Docker and Portainer helps greatly).  Biggest challenge I have right now is pulling in guide info.  I can map from local cable companies most of the channels I pull in, but there are gaps.
