Emby Connect Login Issues

Not really sure where the right place to ask is, but I find myself unable to login to Emby Connect.  I have reset the password 4 times successfully, but then when I try to login it gives me "Invalid username or password. Please try again."  I do not have caps lock on, have copy/pasted direct from my password manager, have pasted into a non-password field to be 100% sure it is pasting correctly, but no luck whatsoever 😕

Edit: I have also tried multiple computers, multiple browsers, the IOS app, no luck

Hopefully someone here can help point me in the right direction!

Thanks

Is it your server you're trying to connect to or someone else's?

Have you had an invitation to Emby Connect?  You needto have had a server login tied to your Connect account for it to do anything.

My server and I have also been using Emby and Emby Connect for years without issue which makes it really odd.

Edit: I actually have two servers linked at the moment - one I am decommissioning and my new one. I can connect to it fine locally. I see it in the IOS App but can’t login with Emby Connect :(

Not sure as I just tested on my iphone connecting on wifi and cell data via Connect without issue.

Have you tried going to the server locally and unlinking Connect Username and hit save, and relinking Connect Username and hitting Save?

No change after doing that :(

Which screen are you getting?

The first one.  Also of note, I can sign into https://emby.media/community with no issues at all, it is only https://app.emby.media that rejects the password…

Edit: For additional clarity, I got the other one when logging in directly to the server and unlinking and re-linking the account. I also tried linking by email and by username - neither helped.  The passwords for the local user and the Emby Connect / Community Forum accounts are different but for sake of completeness, I tried the local password too but still no luck.

Somewhat out of ideas.  Do you get the same results using Email address instead of username?

Since I see the lock that would be HTTPS, do you get the same results with http://app.emby.media?

Posted

Yeah, it was initially http, so I flipped it to https to see if that would somehow help - it didn’t :(

And yes, I have tried both linking by email and by ID, and logging in with both email and ID for each linking combination 😕

Do you have a desktop machine you can try this with as well?

Posted (edited)

Yes, I have tried this on a Windows laptop, Mac Desktop (the actual server itself), iPhone, and iPad - all with the same result. 😕

OK, using a desktop, can you capture the contents of the browser debug console? Thanks.

Hi.  Would you mind trying this again?

Thanks.

Did you end up doing something because, yes, it works now!

Curious as to what the underlying cause was.

Thanks!

Excellent.  Yes, we discovered an issue with email addresses with special characters.  Yours has a "+".

Thanks for confirming.

Cool, I thought that might be an issue, but figured since the username and password reset itself worked it probably wasn’t - thanks for confirming and the assistance!

Sorry to pile on here, but I've been unable ever to sign in to app.emby.media.

I can reset my password, which drops me into these forums. But when I try to login to "Sign in with Emby Connect" it always fails with a 404 when POSTing to https://connect.emby.media/service/user/authenticate

Screencap is from Firefox, but same thing happens in Brave, Chrome etc. Tried reducing browser security level to no avail.

My email address / username do not have any weird characters :)

Hope you can help. I've got Emby Premiere via an iOS sub, but I'd really like to replace that with a direct sub and generally move forward. But can't do that if I can't sign in :)

Have you tried deleting and re-making the link between your user on your server and your Connect user?

What user are you trying to login with?

Same here. Emby Connect is a problem. However, my server is reachable in some strange way. The 3 users on the server and they remoteing in was made possible by luck....NOT by emby connect.

I wish there were some support that one could reach out to, especially when one pays the lifetime pass.
I am not very good at crawling through forums.

Hi.  Connect is just a convenience feature for connecting without knowing the actual IP address.  There is no "magic" within it that makes the remote connection work.  It is still required that you have your network configured properly for external access.

This is it right here.  There are lots of people who can help if you provide information on any issue you have.

Thanks.
