Emby iOS 2.1.3 DTS is transcoded instead DirectStream

Since updating from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3 on iOS (15.3.1 an every device) all Series / Movies in DTS are going to be transcoded. With transcode, no Sound on iOS.

DirectStream H264/AC3 in mkv seems not to be working. Any Idea?

Same File working with 2.1.2 and no longer with 2.1.3 in Screen-Shots. Testet it with my iPhone. 2.1.2 OK, Update from AppStore and with 2.1.3 "Audio codec not supported" instead of "DirectStream"

Hi there, this has always been the case. Please attach the ffmpeg log from this playback session. Thanks.

OK, I see - "stats for nerds" showing different information between versions.

But here you go. One ffmpeg-session with 2.1.2 and one with 2.1.3 - same File. 2.1.3 no sound with 2.1.3.

In the Picture a screenshot from 2.1.2 on the left and 2.1.3 on the right.

I don't see any difference in the ffmpeg-logs.

They are both doing the exact same thing just different SFN layouts.

2.1.2

19:48:42.959 Stream mapping:
19:48:42.959   Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy)
19:48:42.959   Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> ac3 (native))

2.1.3

19:49:43.918 Stream mapping:
19:49:43.918   Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy)
19:49:43.918   Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> ac3 (native))

2.1.2 does not tell you completely what it is doing

It shows DTS changed to AC3 ie  directstream

2.1.3 is showing you what it is doing

direct play video and transcoding audio  ie still a direct stream according to Emby.

So this is a interpretation issue of new layout, correct?

Right, they're doing the exact same thing. It's just the stats feature that looks a little different.  Does this answer your question?

Hi there. Thank you so far, it explains the stats feature differences.. But not really the question / problem.

Because with the new version 2.1.3 there's no audio on iOS from sources with DTS, DTS-X or DTS HD-MASTER (for all of them 2.0 or higher).

Everything else seems to be working, I tested those formats so far and they all have audio on iOS:

DolbyDigital, DD Plus 5.1, DD Plus 5.1 with Atmos, TRUE HD, Atmos.TrueHD.7.1, AAC Stereo, mp3 2.0

I have the same issue as hapewe.

2.1.2 works perfectly fine while in 2.1.3 there's simply no sound on iOS devices. (also DTS track)

So the issue in with BETA server and no sound in this app correct?

Or client update issue?

We're looking into the no sound issue with this combination of factors. Thanks.

It's a client update issue

Yes, same here. With the update there appeared to be no sound on DTS streams on iOS/iPadOS.

Not sure if this has been reported yet or not, but discovered last night that anything with a DTS audio plays absolutely no sound at all.  I'm currently using the latest beta version for Synology NAS.

We'll be submitting an update today to resolve this. Thanks guys.
