External Player receiving stream instead of passing file

Hello,

I just setup PowerDVD as an external player and it launches, but doesn't play the file.  I switched to VLC and see that it is passing a stream instead of the actual file.  I can launch from the command line without passing credentials (the computer running ET has read permission on the share).  I also checked the library and I have populated the Optional Shared Folder.  All of my media is stored on a Synology NAS.  Does anybody have this working that can point me in the right direction?

Something I just noticed:  the drive is mapped on the ET computer and if I place that in the Shared Folder instead of the URL, it does work!  This is not ideal though since not all of my clients have that folder mapped.

Right it depends on whether or not the app has direct access to the file path. If it does, then that's what it will pass.
