Emby Server offline without internet for extended time

Hi Guys,

First would like to say thanks for producing such a great program. We are a marine electronics company in New Zealand and have installed Emby Premiere on multiple vessels. The owners/guests and crew love the interface and ease of use.

This may be a duplicate of other topics but here is the issue we have currently. The vessel having issues is a sailing yacht and due to extended sailing times it may be offline for up to a month while at sea. It has 2 VSAT's but we found that last season Emby had dropped offline and Windows clients could not access the server.

Is there a way to extend the time before it stops providing Premiere features or is there another solution? Is there a way to manually refresh it so they could do it before going into a no coverage area etc. Is there a way to purchase a licence for that specific server hardware? I'm sure the customer would be okay with purchasing a new licence if the server hardware had to be changed etc.

Just looking for some ideas as they were ready to throw it overboard last year so hoping we can resolve it so there is not a repeat this year.

Cheers

Hey up,

recent related topic:

Within that one you'll find a link to another topic where I wrote a post regarding offline usage. With those two topics combined, I reckon you'll find majority of answers to your queries.

And to summarize: nope, you can't buy license for specific hardware, as Premiere license is not tied to a machine but to an account. And it will not run indefinitely, it needs to be refreshed every few weeks (three in the most is what I've observed), will run on cache in-between. For refreshing license, server needs to go online for a short time, on Inmarsat FX (FBB & VSAT combo) it takes like a minute of two.

Thanks for that. I had read through those posts a while ago but wasn't sure which one to add to.
