skawun 1 Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Hi all, I seem to be having an issue with remote access that I'm not able to resolve. It seems that I'm only able to access my emby server remotely via a browser or my phone's Emby app. Not from any of my typical clients like Xbox or Samsung TV app which is what is used remotely. Currently I have emby running as a docker image in Unraid. Remote access is handled by a reverse proxy (Nginx Proxy Manager). Also using a domain with a sub.domain.ca format. What's weird is that I am able to fully access my server on my phone whether it be on mobile data or on WiFi at the remote location. As for settings, I didn't do anything overly special. I set the external domain, secure connection handled by reverse proxy. Anyone have a similar setup working properly or run into this issue before?
Luke 42085 Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Hi @skawun what type of SSL certificate are you using?

Hi, I had originally had everything setup using a cert via cloudflare as I was using Argo Tunnel to access all my services remotely. Whats weird is that I can access Emby just fine and start a stream on my android via the app and browser just fine. I get a connection failure when specifying my domain remotely on any of the typical apps (Xbox, Samsung). Additionally, auto discovery hasnt been working locally. Could this be related to me running Emby on a custom network in Unraid?
Luke 42085 Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Quote Additionally, auto discovery hasnt been working locally. Could this be related to me running Emby on a custom network in Unraid? It's possible, yes, but you can still always enter the address manually. What app is not auto-discovering?
Luke 42085 Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 But again, what type of cert? Samsung is extremely picky and will reject most certificates. Please see this topic here: It was created in the LG section but applies to Samsung as well.

What app is not auto-discovering? Yes, for sure, thats what I've been doing. This is on both a Nvidia Shield (2017) and a Chromecast with Google TV. Regarding certs, I see ECDSA SHA256 on my Cloudflare dashboard. Im not that proficient in all of this and have been learning as I go. I, also have min TLS set to 1.3. Luke 42085 Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 @skawun are you still having issues with remote access? Did you see the topic above about Samsung?

Hi Luke, I wound up getting it working. Turns out it was the TLS version causing problems. I had it set to v1.3. I stepped it down to v1.2 I believe. 1
