music not playing on carplay

I have given up on Emby for music including CarPlay. I’ve now just gone back to Plex which works great. 
 

CarPlay as a paid feature should never have been released in the state it’s currently in. It just doesn’t work. Emby in general is pretty bad for music discovery, smart features, and anything outside of just playing an album or track. 

save yourself the hassle of waiting and find another solution.

Well, it is still better than Plex, it does not ram ad content down from your throat.

I have paid for plex and its CarPlay interface is exceptionally good. It’s just that it lacks other features that I love about Emby.

For music? I would have to disagree. Plexamp for Plex is a phenomenal product and really is the best you can get for self hosted music. 

I have around 200,000 tracks in my music library. Plexamp via CarPlay plays them all. Even using Siri in the car works great and finds what I want. 

Emby on the other hand cannot even load my favourites list and play a single track without erroring out. 

don’t get me wrong though I’m not moving to Plex. I moved away from them for the same reasons most of us did but the simple truth is that music on emby sucks outside of simply playing an album, track or playlist and the CarPlay feature is absolutely useless and broken beyond belief. 
 

im at the point now where i either use Plexamp for music or simply don’t use CarPlay. I want to use Emby but I can’t and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be fixed anytime soon / fixed at all.

Yeah, I do agree, we currently lack proper “does it all” media server/application. 
I am already wondering, how difficult it would be to create my own client, solely for music and carplay. For everything else, Emby client works fine.

At the end of the day, there is not much functionality I would personally need. Simple player, with playlists, download and CarPlay capabilities which would work with Emby server. I do work in Software Engineering, but unfortunately it is not possible to fix official client due to lack of source code.

That’s it. QMusic works fairly well in that way but the UI is so bulky and awkward. It is hard to get non-tech family members to use it.

Emby and Plexamp are so great that way. Especially Emby. But CarPlay!!!!!

@boukmanduttuycan you please attach the emby server log  from when you tried to do that?
