question about setting up boxsets

If I understand setting up boxsets correctly, the main movie directory will contain the word boxsets & the directory will hold each movie in a subfolder?

Example of how to set them up:

 

• \\server-name\movies\                     The folder you point the MB server to
  • \\server-name\movies\Die Hard Collection [boxset]                            The actual boxset
    • \\server-name\movies\Die Hard Collection [boxset]\Die Hard                     An individual movie within the boxset
    • \\server-name\movies\Die Hard Collection [boxset]\Die Hard 2
    • \\server-name\movies\Die Hard Collection [boxset]\Die Hard 3
    • \\server-name\movies\Die Hard Collection [boxset]\Die Hard 4

The main folder "holder" as have the tag [boxset] in the name of it, example:

 

D:\Home Alone [boxset]

 

Then sub folders for your movies, like:

 

D:\Home Alone [boxset]

D:\Home Alone [boxset]\Home Alone (1990)\

D:\Home Alone [boxset]\Home Alone 2\

You can also use shortcuts within the boxset folder if you do not want to have all of you movies under the boxset folder. Personally, this is how I have my collection setup as I got into boxsets a bit late and had no desire to move all of my movie files around.

 

One tip though, if you do go the route above and you are using shares within your file system (UNC paths in MB3) be sure to add the UNC path shortcut rather than the drive letter shortcut.

Only the first folder needs the [boxset] tag, not the sub folders

I prefer the shortcut method...

Leave your original movie folders normally structured (one folder per movie) and in the boxsets folder, create "(collection name) [boxset]" and simply put shortcuts of the original movie folders in it...

Like this, you can easily make changes without moving the movie files... just shortcuts...
