Nice job.

Some feedback. The "Fluid" view home page is slow to load and navigate to next pages. Perhaps indexing or caching? Direct post links from notifications or search are fine and loading normally. Search feels faster, were there enhancements for that?

Thanks @Q-Droid  Yes things should improve regarding speed matters as the cache will build up.

Yes re speed, as we update the php/mysql, bigjohn did great job indeed.

I will watch things for few days to insure all fine, then I will start modify our templates again.

Thanks again for your feedback buddy.

How long will that take?  At present every time I click the browser's "back" button to return from a thread to the main fluid view, I have to wait 5.5 seconds.  It all adds up...

FWIW: I see absolutely no delay when using the back button. I am currently using Opera One (version: 112.0.5197.59). I have also tested with Chrome and Fire Fox and they all are virtually instantaneous.

You might be having some problems related to old data. You might want to clear your cache. It can't hurt.

What view/layout mode do you use for the forums? Fluid is slow. Table and Grid are fine.

I guess i am using "table" as I find the other views virtually useless. They all get in the way of using the forum for me. But that might be the reason I have virtually no problems as far as forum use goes. For me "simple" is better than "flashy." I see no advantage to the other views but each to their own and things like the specialized views you mentioned might just be ideal for others.

Sorry for polluting the forum.

Fluid is much faster when you make specific selections at the right side (checkboxes).

Yes, and why I suggested a possible indexing or caching issue. The difference is significant from before and after the site update. I made no changes on my end yet the site is much slower when I came in after the maintenance. The Fluid mode was not exactly snappy or instant before but now it takes 7-10 seconds to load the home page and also when using the page navigation PREV, NEXT or by number. Not within threads or directly to posts but on the main pages.

Yup. It can't be caching because the default sort is by "recently updated", which can change any second, so it can only be query changes for which the indexes haven't been updated accordingly.

But it would be better if people wouldn't use it right now as it hits the server, slowing things down for everybody.

An (at least temporary) alternative for getting a list of all recent changes in all forums is menu: Activity >> All Activity (for those who don't know)

This view is loading as fast as usual.

I think this kind of view is primarily useful for mods and admins who are tracking all content in all forums, but not necessarily for everybody. I don't use it either and I don't think it needs to be more prominent.

This I have always done.

Thanks!  I hadn't found this.  Activity/Unread Content may be what I need (though I lose the ability to restrict it to a subset of forums).

It's not proportional to the count of checkboxes checked but to the sum of the numbers right to each checked checkbox, so the biggest difference comes from having Server > General/Windows checked or not.

Yeah, that's why I said "temporarily". I know it's being worked on. From what I've understood, there's some major updating of the db server in progress, so let's give them a little time, I'm sure they'll get it back working like it should.
