The others are OK...I don't know why it doesn't work...Thank you

Emby version: 4.6.7.0
Synology:
DS216play (DSM 7.0.1-42218 Update 2)

I don't understand at all ... Where's the mistake? Will you have to explain to me why it doesn't work ... Due to the emby version update? Or? Thank you...

failed to open vchiq instance

That is what's showing up in the transcode log.  The only time I've ever seen a "vchiq" error is on ARM cpus and I think Raspberry Pi. Is that what you're running by any chance?

If so, if I remember correctly this cause is usually /dev/vchiq needs to be added to the video group.

I don't think I've seen this error related to Emby before.

What hardware and OS are you running?

Not that I really know what they mean but server log shows two exited codes.

Process exited with code 255

Process exited with code 139

It is monaco: DS216play (Armv7) "emby-server-synology7_{version}_monaco.spk".

What? I don't have a Raspberry pi, for God's sake...
I have Synology, what I wrote above ...
Didn't you look in the logs?

Yes but being a 32 bit Arm based system it looks very similar to an older Raspberry Pi 3 running 32 bit Debian as there's little difference between them.

The error I mentioned earlier "failed to open vchiq instance" will be the same as well on any Arm based Linux.  VCHIQ (/dev/vchiq) is a command interface between the running Linux kernel and peripherals (among other things) in the VideoCore silicon (various subsystems hooked into the GPU).

Normally the failed to open VCHIQ means the user running the program doesn't have access to the Linux Video Group (could also be Audio as well) and was trying to use the GPU in some way without proper permission. 99% of the time adding the user running the app to the Video group is all that's needed. This would be the Emby user on Synology. You should be able to make this change right in DSM with control panel.

Can you try that and let us know how that works? If it doesn't work, upload new logs for us to look at.

I found a solution where the problem..This is a much weirder program from Emby :-O ..Only the subtitles cause the problem !!!!

Underworld.Evolution.2006.1080p.BrRip.x264.YIFY.sub

Underworld.Evolution.2006.1080p.BrRip.x264.YIFY.srt

SUB doesn't let go of the movie
SRT releases the movie and OK

Why doesn't the .sub work? The emby program is to blame. I did not understand at all .... I have been analyzing for 2 days and I have found a solution ......

Probably need to see server and ffmpeg log if present when trying to play the "sub" subtitles.

Pravděpodobně budete muset vidět server a ffmpeg log, pokud je přítomen, když se pokoušíte přehrát "sub" titulky.

He'll show me 4 .txt

If you look at the file directory do you see an idx file named the same as the sub?

Před 41 minutami cayars řekli:

Když se podíváte do adresáře souborů, vidíte soubor idx pojmenovaný stejně jako sub?

Only this ... More nothing 🙂
I also checked Synology and the same as the picture

I did convert the sub to srt ... It works perfect 🙂

Will you have to explain to me why .sub doesn't work when I play the video ??? Emby doesn't support it or does it?

I found 14 movies and there subtitles .sub and everything doesn't work ... I had to convert to .srt and it works.....srt goes perfect than .sub

An SRT and SUB are essentially the same thing.  SUBrip is associated with the sub being part of the file (internal) as a track while SRT is an external track.  These can be moved back and forth but if extracted as "sub" and not SRT there is an additional file IDX that goes along with the IDX file. Using these as SUB externals is not very common since SRT is easier and a single file.

Check our knowledge base on supported subtitles:
https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159160-subtitles

You will see sub/idx listed in order to work.  So it's not surprising these do not work as they are incomplete.

https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159160-subtitles

Aby bylo možné pracovat, uvidíte seznam sub/idx. Není tedy divu, že tyto nefungují, protože jsou neúplné.

I understand 🙂 🙂
Looks like it's settled...This weekend I will make a transfer .sub to srt ..... Only a total of 14 ......Thank you 🙂
