When add user name and password for Emby Connect, it goes to a screen with my other two servers, which work well. Only difference is that my main server Vorke V2 has another user. See photo. Again, this used to work without issues. I am sure it is something simple, but I can't figure it out.

NOW, I can access the server when out of local network, ie, using cellular internet. Now I am trying to add that user back in, and all I get is a blue circle going round and round. He forgot his Emby Connect email address and user name. He tried three different email accounts but none worked............ I even tried Plex, but it won't allow me to stream live TV. He can access of my TV shows and movies, but NOT live tv......... So, he can't use Emby OR Plex to watch the NFL game today. He wants to watch the Lions, but he now lives in New Mexico.. Had the same problem last year and never got it resolved. Finally gave up.

Sorry I don't follow as all you have to do is look at the local user you created for the user and see what email address you added to that account.

Trying to add him back as a user, but no user listed. Edit: He just now tried to use Emby connect, but with 3 different email accounts, they were already used. So he could not create another emby connect account. Also, when I travel 1200 miles to visit brother, can't get Emby to work on an Emby app that I installed on his media player. But I still use the Emby app on my phone. I could watch live TV on my phone 1200 miles away, but could NOT connect using the Emby app on his media player. Edited December 22, 2024 by clarkss12

Sounds like you many need to provide @Abobadersome specific info in a PM to check account info. But will still come back to you needing to link specific email address to local user account but all server info technically can manually be added once logged in to Connect. 1

Paul I think I tried that, did not work. I just connected them with my Plex server, using my username and password. Worked right off the bat. Emby is a pain in the butt to connect out of network. I can't even connect to Emby on another media player when I'm out of the network. I just give up it's too hard to set everything up.

But don’t you want you use a personal media server and not one that puts all of your information into the cloud? 1

My son tried three different email addresses to sign into the Emby connect, but so they already been used. So he could not create another Emby account. I can't even log into a different device out of my network. It was too much of a pain. I ran into the same problem email address already taken. The only solution that I can think of is to completely wipe out all my information on your server and start over again. Your server is causing me the grief. Edited December 23, 2024 by clarkss12

Emby connect is just a means of passing that address to your users. Plex's easy-of-use comes at the cost of giving them unrestricted access to your server and it's contents. 1
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 One thing. I have never heard of anyone coming from Plex and finding Emby too complicated. There have been more than a few that di not like Emby and so returned to Plex but I do not remember even one saying that Plex was easier to use than Emby. I do not use remote access at all but I have tested it and I had no problem making it work but I see no value for me in using it so I disabled all remote access. Yep the obvious solution is to completely wipe out your server and then reinstall and that is a drastic but reasonable solution. I have done that a couple of time over the years but it was never an actual Emby problem but rather something stupid I did. When I used Plex, years ago, I had to do that kind of thing almost bi-yearly and Plex almost always was at fault for whatever problem forced me to reinstall. I do not have any problem whatsoever with Emby (except for little implementation issues) and, although there are some parts i find somewhat confusing, it is one of the simplest "big" programs I have ever dealt with. 1

Or possibly VPN if using one but technically portforwarding as you have to have a vpn that supports it.

I just cannot get Emby connect on another device that it's out of my network. I was a hundred miles away from my home for Thanksgiving. I was able to watch the Lions football game on my phone using Emby. It is rare that I even use Plex but it is the only way I could get my son to be able to watch my over the air TV football game. We tried everything to get Emby to connect but no luck.

To a point it sounds like you have device access configured or even broken on user settings then.

To a point it sounds like you have device access configured or even broken on user settings then. No VPN. I am thinking that I should ask the Dev to completely wipe my data and start over again. At one time it used to work, access my media out of local network. It is rarely that I ever need that function. It only pops up when my son wants to access my local NFL game that he can not get in his area. So only once or twice a year. Since it is not a priority most of the time, I don't spend too much time researching it. All my usage is local and been using it for years.
