justinrh 260 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I have two Shields that have been using User1 since I first installed the Emby app. I created User2 to use on them. So I open the app, logout User1. Login User2. Exit the app (yes, click on "Exit") Open the app - User1 is logged in! If I simply go 'home', then back to Emby, User2 is still logged in. How do I get User2 to stick?
GrimReaper 4740 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Adjust settings>Startup tab>Startup behaviour to either login as last user or particular user. 2 1
justinrh 260 Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 Thank you, @GrimReaper @Luke If this is not considered a bug, then it is certainly a usability issue. After I log in as User2, Startup says 'automatically login as this user'. But it does not do that. I even reselected it and still it didn't work. This is not logical.

Which app version you're running? 2.0.48? I don't recall ever having issues with that, just tested it on both 2.0.48 stable and 2.0.67 beta, behaving as expected.
justinrh 260 Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 Yes, 2.0.48. I tested on two devices.
GrimReaper 4740 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 You might try setting the option to Show login screen, exit, restart, login as User 2 and switch back to Login as this user, see how does that compare. Alternatively, you might try clearing cache and data for the app in Shield settings.
ebr 16184 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Hi. "Remember Last User" is the default setting. It sounds like that was changed at some point but is what you want. Have you tried setting it to that?
justinrh 260 Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 Setting to 'remember last user'? Yes, that was the fix GrimReaper suggested, and it worked.
justinrh 260 Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 ebr, to be sure, there is still a bug. The setting is not honored. After I used the 'remember last user' setting, I could then go switch it back to 'automatically login as this user' it was honored. It should have been honored to begin with.

You had the setting set that way for User 1. Then you logged in as User 2 and exited. When you logged back in, it logged in as User 1 because that is how you had it set.
justinrh 260 Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 It was not honored. User2 had the setting 'automatically login as this user'. The settings dialog even said 'login in as User2'. If it was honored I wouldn't have made this post.

You had originally set it to always log in as User 1 and that setting didn't change until you changed it to "Remember Last User". The dialog was just confusing and we'll address that. 1
justinrh 260 Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 It may be more than that - it depends on how you remove the 'confusion'. When I logged in as User2, the setting was 'automatically login as this user', so I expected it to 'automatically login as <User2>'. Thanks for looking into it.
