Since upgrade beyond 4.6.4 SSL outgoing requests time out on Manjaro

Hi, I've been trying to troubleshoot this without asking but have come up empty handed. When trying to identify metadata or list the plugin catalog both time out. This was working previously around the time of version 4.6.4 and I have not changed any network settings on my system or router. I do not have a firewall or antivirus software enabled. I have tried multiple browsers. I am able to copy the timed out API calls into my browser and get an API response; however, when emby tries to make the request through dotnet it times out. For instance:

When I copy this API request into my browser it works:

The same thing happens if I try to browse the plugin catalog:

This API call also works in the browser. The rest of emby (video playback, library navigation etc) is working fine on my LAN. I do not use remote connect and do not want to, but pulling metadata was a killer feature until it stopped working. I noticed in the changelog for 4.6.6 this is mentioned:

Is it possible this "fix" caused problems for some Linux distros for outgoing SSL requests? I wanted to downgrade to 4.6.4 to test; however, as Manjaro is a rolling release and the required version of libx264 I'd have to downgrade to breaks ffmpeg (which many packages depend on) I don't want to bork my entire install to find out about emby metadata.

Appreciate any advice or help.

Hi, this is resolved in 4.6.6 and 4.6.7, so I would suggest updating to the latest. If you have a problem after that then we should look at that. Thanks.

Sorry I may have been unclear in my post but I am on 4.6.7 as you can see in my logs. I think the "fix" may have created my problem starting with 4.6.6 and 4.6.7.

OK sorry, those are different types of errors. Those are not the SSL errors that we were seeing before, those are timeouts. That suggests you may have something blocking Emby Server from sending the outgoing requests. Typical causes are firewall, security software, or VPN. Can you please check into that? Thanks.

Thanks for your prompt replies. As stated in the post I haven't changed anything about my system and this was working on previous versions. I don't have a firewall, security software or VPN enabled. When copying the API calls to the browser they work.

I understand, but there's no way for me to tell you why the requests aren't reaching their destination. I can only confirm that this is what is happening. That is typically the most common reason - something in your environment not allowing them. The other thing you could try is disabling ipv6 in your router, as a couple users have mentioned this making a difference in some cases.

Update: I changed nothing about my system. No updates, no IPv6 changes on my router, etc. But this just started working after days of not working. Curious but glad it's up #fixed 🤔
