What's the purpose of Disc Art within the scope of emby?

I have an option to download it, but unsure what purpose it would serve within the emby dashboard? I can see where clearart, backdrop, logos and banners are applied.

Just curious, maybe there is something I am missing that I could get benefit from it

If not I'll remove them from the folders, just to clean things up a bit

You can opt for Disc view, as with other image-types:

Other than that, can't think of practical use. Some Kodi skins do make use of it, so likely a subset of users utilizing Emby as backend and Kodi as frontend can also possibly benefit.

Here you can see my Movies library with Disc view  turn on instead of Primary.

Also then Collections view with cover art plugin used.

 

Also disc view for music albums is a very nice use of discs.

Hi, that’s coming from the cover art plugin.

Thank you Luke. Is there a guide for how to use the CoverArt plugin? I have been able to change the cases but I am still unsure off hoe to show my media using the disc art instead.

Hi.  You need to choose a treatment style that has them but they will only pertain to collections.
