crissan 2 Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Two days ago (8th February) I was watching a series, streaming from my phone (Android) to my chromecast, and everything was as it used to be. Yesterday however, for no apparent reason to me, it wasn't working properly. I can still stream from either my phone or computer to the chromecast without any issues but the subtitles are very small and when I hit the stop button the image doesn't revert back to show the information about the episode. Instead it's just black. The first image shows how it looks like if I go to an episode on my phone. The second image is how it looks like when I hit the stop button. Before, the image on the screen would revert back and look like the first picture. I have tried to restart both the chromecast and the server but it didn't do anything. I have also tested to play episodes that has either SRT or SUBRIP subtitles, but the issue remains. I did however notice today that the ffmpeg logs looks different. However, no logs show up when I play "Raised by Wolves". The logs are from "Modern family". Another thing I have noticed is that when I start a new episode or movie, there used to be a bar at the bottom of the screen with an image of the cover of the movie or series in the bottom left corner and the name of the movie or episode, but that doesn't show up anymore either. I have attached one ffmpeg log from each day (8th, 9th and 10th) from the same series (Modern Family) and the embyserver log from today and one from the 8th. ffmpeg-remux-22ca7089-6adb-48f0-be68-307f851c0a4c_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-940348bc-25ae-4d70-b300-55a9548148d8_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-c7b74576-a462-4ac0-be2b-f5cd54ee6a7c_1.txt embyserver.txt embyserver-63779961600.txt 2

red_ 12 Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Same here with Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra and Chromecast on Nvidia Shield. 1
Guest Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Same exact problem here with Chromecast Ultra! Especially the miniature subtitles are a huge problem.
red_ 12 Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 @Luke could someone please have a look at this? It kind of makes using Chromecast unusable for everyone in need of subtitles. Thanks in advance. 1
myjunkmalebox 8 Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 I noticeD this started happening several days ago as well. I'm not sure if it was the 8th, but that sounds about right. I use Chromecast. The problem actually started between episodes of a TV show. One ep was fine and the next was tiny, it was actually on the jump between seasons if that matters. I assumed it was just something with that ep/season and ignored it. It's happened on everything sense, I've changed the CC caption size to max in the server, and then restarted the server and chromecast, no change. I've manually reviewed a few of the CC files and there's no font/display info in the files. 1
Luke 42080 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Are you guys still running into this? I'm doing some chromecast testing with videos with subtitles and so far not seeing any issues. Is it only with certain subtitle formats?
crissan 2 Posted February 15, 2022 Author Posted February 15, 2022 I'm still having the issue. Have tested with both SRT and SUBRIP but it's the same.
moviepalace4K 29 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Here with me, enlarging titles on the Chromecast is not working. subtitle type = .srt
Guest Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Still a problem, both with separate .srt files and built-in subtitles.

Chromecast ignore Subtitles parameters : My setting are "Very large red text" and when cast i get "Very tiny white text". Subtitles are in separate .srt file. All forms of subtitles appear as tiny white text on Chromecast.
Luke 42080 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 OK please try rebooting your Chromecast device and then give it another shot. Thanks.
