lstryhrn 7 Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 So I am wanting to back up the server. I am going to follow the direction from here Emby Backup : Emby to do so. My question is, if I check save artwork into media folder in the different libraries I have, will this go back and save the existing data in those folders or is it only the new data? I want to set my self up to a point where if my computer crash I can restore my Emby server without doing a full scan and downloading everything for my library. Maybe I am doing this all wrong. Any suggestion is appreciated

You would need to backup the entire Emby programdata folder, this is in a different location on all platforms. example on Windows C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata unless you have a portable install Note this nothing to do with your media only Emby, so depending on where your media is located that would be a different back. This also assumes if media is on different drives that the drive letter/library paths remain the same. 1

So what is the purpose of saving the data into a different media folder?

Luke 42080 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 HI, as the help text says, saving artwork next to your media will put them into a more permanent place for safe keeping and easy editing. Does that answer your question? 1
