Shelll 1 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Hey guys, So am currently getting a connection failure error when I try to connect to my server called savage. This server was operational and working fine until I installed the virtual desktop streamer app for my oculus rift on the PC(https://www.vrdesktop.net/), they told me to alter a setting that I can't remember which may causing the issue. So now I am getting the error I posted below. I also use a VPN, but I usually was able to access the server even with the VPN was on. I have also try connecting to the server with the VPN Disconnected and still got the same results. I haven't set up the emby connect so this is meant to be only seen by devices on the local network. I have uploaded the logs to this file I followed this thread and didn't find a solution. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001849007-connectivityembyserver.txt Thanks for your help

RoyH 12 Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 I am having a similar issue Emby work perfect at home but at my son's home it would work and then freeze no specific timing before freezing and shows the connection failure above. I dont have virtual desktop, VPN anything else on the server, all my server does is run Emby. I checked the logs and this file attached is from the last time I know it froze and showed the connection failure. My server is Windows 11. I noticed this on the log "Tone Mapping would be desired, but hardware tone mapping is disabled" so I just went in transcoding and enabled this below it was disabled. Dont know if this will make a difference. Will have my son try showing a movie when he get home and see what happens. ffmpeg-transcode-e46b05d1-2dd1-49a7-9187-01c00f982bab_1.txt

Devs may need to see server and hardware detection logs. As for the connection issue, we could need the server log for that specific session it froze/disconnected or replicate the issue and post log. As the ffmpeg log isn't showing much. 20:07:42.933 [segment @ 00000222ab5cec40] Opening 'C:\Users\RoyServer\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\transcoding-temp\82DB98_s2_2381.vtt.tmp' for writing 20:07:42.996 [q] command received. I did not set stream limit, how do I fix that I have Fios 1G (940/880 Mbps) internet so streaming should not be an issue. I installed the Fios 1G on 2/14 then went on vacation my son said since he cant get on at all so I guess the new Router blocking it, gotta figure out what is going on there, then we could get to the freezing issue.

Most if not all clients playback quality are set to Auto that can to conservative. So user would need to adjust the playback quality on the client to a specific value. Since he is using Connect I would go to his local user account and remove the connect username, hit save and readd to see it makes a difference. As this topic would appear to be about Connect not updating registered server WAN address. Does your Dashboard show the same WAN address as a site like canyouseeme.org?
Shelll 1 Posted March 4, 2022 Author Posted March 4, 2022 Sorry for the late reply, you can disregard my post I figured it out. Thanks for the help!

Is there anyway I can test this from my cellphone with the wifi off I have the app and if I take off the wifi I cannot connect to server.

On your cellphone open a browser and enter your WAN:8096 and it should connect.

I changed router so maybe that changed it I did as you said with my cell and it connected. Once we get that cleared will see if it still freezing and try to figure it out 1 hour ago, Happy2Play said: Did you set a stream limit or is the client set to Auto as it is showing a limit of 3Mbps? Every app has a playback quality settings, you will need to find the setting and adjust it to a different value then Auto.
