If you just tone it down a bit in TV mode, it should work without the need for any additional options. I understand your point, but unfortunately that’s not possible on webOS. There is no option available to tone it down further from the app side. I’ve already tried lowering all relevant TV settings that can be adjusted in HDR (such as Peak Brightness), and the issue still persists. This did not happen on my previous LG C1 under the same conditions. In other apps, like Prime Video, where subtitle transparency can be adjusted, or when playing SDR content, the problem disappears completely. This strongly suggests the issue is specific to HDR playback (Dolby Vision in this case) combined with the lack of subtitle transparency or darker color options in the webOS app. That’s why I believe some form of app-level subtitle adjustment, or an internal scaling for HDR subtitles, would be necessary to properly address this.

MiguelYas 2 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hi, @Luke, any news about the HDR subtitle brightness? The last Lg app update seems not to resolve the issue. Thanks
Reaper47 11 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) It would be nice to have an option similar to this in Kodi, where you can set diffrent birghtness for the whole UI (including subtitles) when in HDR mode. Even better if there would be choice to either dim only UI, only subtitles or both (plus an option to disable dimming). Right now, not only subtitles are very bright, but a lot of UI elements that appear during pause or seeking as well. For now, adding an option to quickly access subtitle settings from playback UI (just as it was recently added to Android app) and making sure there are darker subtitle colors to choose from (such as grey or darker white) would still help a lot. But still, something like Kodi would be preferable, as it could fix UI being to bright in HDR and users wouldn't have to manually switch colors between SDR and HDR. Also mentioned here.
