OK - I got the iOS device to now transfer/download.  I had to clear out all old queued downloads, removed app & data, reinstalled app.  FYI other iOS device download all queued Ready for Transfer item after updating to v2.1.9.

I am seeing further interesting behavior where on a newly created user account with no password on an ios device (app version 2.2.0) the download pop up screen had no options and the download button was unresponsive.  Creating a pw for the user allowed downloads to be triggered (along with the quality drop down appearing).

Now however the downloads are created for other devices in on the server. the new device which i am using does not appear in the "download to" list either.

I tried deleting the first device in the list and the download was created for another - and the previous download job is now labled Unknown.(see screen shot)

the downloads stay read to transfer because the devices they have been assigned to are not active. I have tried restarting the server (version 4.7.5.0) and logging in and out of apps.

How does a new device get added to the device list "Download to"

Hi, rule of thumb, if you're downloading to the same device, then just use Download instead of Download to.

Right, but when it queues the download for a different device there is a problem.

Hi, please try a new download and see how that compares. Thanks.

Downloading started working with iOS app versions 2.1.9 and 2.2.0.  BUT is now not working with versions 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 because video media can not be added to download que.  Download panel is blank and 'download' button does nothing.

Hopefully devs have figured this out in 2.2.3 but can say I have not been able to reproduce this on Windows Stable/Beta servers with these recent app updates.

I'm seeing this same behaviour on all my iPhones. Wasn't sure if I should raise a separate ticket. Sorry if a "me too" post is annoying. Just wanted to make sure you were aware that it's more than one person affected. Let me know if I can help troubleshoot the issue. Thanks.

iOS version 2.2.3 can now add download's to the que BUT immediately marks them as 'Failed'

@Luke I can say I can reproduce this on stable and beta servers for Converted items.

I have no issue with Original Quality though.

Little confused as ffmpeg commands copy/copy for bitrate reduction.

It looks like the ffmpeg command is missing a file extension on the output file. If I add .mkv to the failing ffmpeg command it works.

I see the issue here. We'll get an update out. Thanks for reporting.

Emby for iOS 2.2.4 is out to resolve this. You'll need to delete existing affected download jobs on the server and then recreate them. Thanks.

Emby iOS v2.2.4 - now Downloads & 'Download To' is also working --- BUT the downloads are NOT playable 'No compatible streams are currently available....' error when trying to playback downloaded media.     (from past: iOS app v2.1.9 & v2.2.0 download and playback media correctly).  I just newly downloaded same media to Emby iOS apps versions 2.1.9 & 2.2.4 -- results: are 2.1.9 downloads & plays, 2.2.4 downloads & does not play  (downloaded media info displayed show them to be the same)

upon looking at server logs v2.1.9 transcodes media & v2.2.4 does not transcode.

sample media media file attached that has a problem.

Only tested 2.2.4 but can confirm converted media 'No compatible streams are currently available....' error and original quality tries to play but just gives a blank screen like the player locked up.

All of my iOS devices are giving the "no compatible streams" message as well.  I assume there is now some sort of inconsistency between the iOS client and server 4.7.6.0.  I'm having to tell people to connect via the web link from their iOS devices and things play just fine then ... except for a small glitch.  Oddly, on iOS in Safari, when I select a show to PLAY using the giant play button in the browser version, it goes into the show paused with a blank screen.  I then have to swipe up and press the play arrow and then it will start to actually play just fine.

Just to be clear, I get the "no compatible streams" message off-network.  When I use the iOS app locally, it works fine.  When I use it off net, just by turning wi-fi off and going over LTE, I get the dreaded "no compatible streams" message.  But I can still play media in the web browser once I get past the Play hitch noted above.

I do have an updated cert loaded and I am set to "prefer" secure connection mode but not require it.

The version on my iPhone12, for example, is 2.2.4.

Is this consistent with all videos? I've done some testing and I've been able to play downloaded video that required conversion.

Tests:

v2.1.9 iOS app - download test video posted at 4mbps.  results -- downloads & plays

v2.2.4 iOS app - download test video posted at 4mbps.  results -- downloads & DOES NOT play

v2.2.4 iOS app - download test video posted at 0.5mbps.  results -- downloads & plays

test video posted plays when browsed to source file on SMB server with "Files" Apple app and opens & plays within the VLC app

I'm getting the same behavior, just to add to the list. I think it started Th-F of last week, with Synology as the server. Playing on my Apple TV, Windows Browser, and streaming on my iPhone all work. After downloading a file to the iPhone, it will not play getting the no available streams error from the home screen. If I drill down into the Downloads option along the bottom I get the error Happy2Play sees, but the phone doesn't flip to landscape. It stays in portrait mode, all black, with the logo and controls but they don't respond.

Happy to provide any other info needed, thanks as always.

@Lukeyes from a converted media standpoint I get the same as I posted in the image above.

Original downloads play without issue though.

2.2.5

Ugh, forgot the basics. 2.2.5 on iOS, server's on 4.7.6.0.

Emby iOS App v2.2.5 downloads video media but it still does not play with emby-server-freebsd12_4.8.0.7_amd64.pkg server. -- Results are either "Playback Error No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later...." OR blank screen with nothing on it.
