ServerGuy 24 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) Having an issue with certain media constantly buffering (every 3-4 seconds). Thought I had the same issue as the following post but I tried their resolution to no avail. Server is not taxed in any way, network and wireless are performing fine, other media plays fine. At time of streaming I see the Chromecast using no more than 10Mbps. Media plays fine from other platforms (e.g. Chrome on Windows) Server logs available for DM, below is a screenshot of the media info. Also attached are stats for the device from the wireless controller during playback. Reference forum post: Edited February 3, 2022 by ServerGuy Adding wireless statistics

ebr 16184 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Thanks. I don't see anything unusual in the server log and the app log just shows the player going into a buffering state while it waits for data. I'm afraid I cannot see why it had to wait.

Do you need any additional logs/info?
ebr 16184 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 No, there is nothing else you can provide in this instance. It could be a network bottleneck or a hardware bottleneck or... What kind of drive is the media on and how is it connected?
ServerGuy 24 Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 Shouldnt be server or network side, I can play the problem media on other platforms via direct streaming and it plays fine. Seems to be limited to the client platform. Just in case, Server is Dell R720xd, dual proc, 16 core each @ 2.60ghz, 64GB RAM @1600MHz Storage is a flash array (IBM Flashsystem 820) direct connected via 8Gbps fiber channel Onboard storage is available as well for testing and is a RAID6 of 12 - 4TB - 7200 RPM spinners OS drive is a RAID1 of 500GB SSDs Network is running 1Gbps both internally and WAN side, up and down. Cisco 3560G-PoE core Wireless is mainly comprised of Unifi AC-Pro in mesh. Testing using a wifi analyzer on the chromecast i get the capable speeds you see in the screenshot on my first post (300 down x 200 up minimum) I can give you direct access to my server as well if needed for testing. I am externally accessible. One thing I noticed, is that any other direct stream media I play, the Chromecast will build up a significant buffer if paused. When playing the problem media, the buffer never extends beyond maybe 2 or 3 seconds, even while paused.
Luke 42078 Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 @ServerGuy can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and let us know how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks !
