Nutlands 0 Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 My problem started after update to 4.6.7.0. No problems since first server set up or this one up, we watched server content regularly 3/4 weekly on Sony Bravio Smart TV and several firesticks. Also remotedly to two addresses other that my own. I went to watch an episode on 27th December 2021 but there were no thumbnails on some series. eg CSI series 4 disc 2 episode 5 from therein. I looked at Edit image and there was none in the files affected. We tried to live with hoping it would resolve but a month later it hasn't. I have three movie files collections and series, collections, music, home videos and audio books - it only affects collections and series. All the names are different from the file names on the hard drive and always have been. I do not when this stopped working but as of today everything in the first movies file has a warning message "Playback error No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details". That's me I guess. I refreshed Metatdata. Scanned the library files, checked the settings, looked for anything in the forum. I understand most of what is discussed but I am a 58 year old female, so have to look some up. I decided rather than request help and look stupid I would remove the libraries affected and start again. Collections and series was first to go. Next was collections, the only way I know how to remove libraries is with the three dots in the library >more. It is simply not there as the screen print shows. I have since re-added the Collection and series library (my son wants to watch CSI) but realize that I know I need to deal with removing the library with no remove option, can anyone suggest how to do it please.

ebr 16195 Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Hi. That is a virtual library created by the system. It shows all of your collections. If you don't want to see it, you can use user preferences to not show it on the home screen.
Nutlands 0 Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 Thanks for the instruction on hiding it. I am afraid I still do not understand why the library folder 'collections' is still there. If a file is removed from the hard drive, the next time the library files are scanned it is removed from my Emby. So why is a folder not removed in a library scan when the folder no longer exists on the hard drive? Is there a particular method of removing, changing a name or moving the folder that should be followed. I have been using the folders and file hierarchy as they are for a few years on first Plex and now on Emby only adding films as needed, so I see no reason to change it again unless anything has been set up wrongly. We watch on four smart TV's in our home, two smart TV'S via firesticks/fire TV in our families homes, various phones, ipads etc I have four Hard drives the one I use for films is a 8TB powered HD which is backed up a few older & smaller USB drives. It works very well I could imagine being without Emby now. I followed instructions from Emby when first set up and learned a lot but am still puzzled by this. When I do a library scan I notice that it only gets to 90.1% I left it overnight and twice this morning and it didn't change. Is this anything to do with it? Regarding the missing thumbnails - I eventually discovered by going through every file on my hard drive that every single film that didn't have a thumbnail on Emby ( in my collections & series folder on my hard drive) had an extra file (system information file or .bif file) created on 26/12/2021. I didn't use or even touch my computer or hard drive at least on 24th, 25th & 26th December so I don't understand why or what but it would explain why the problem first showed on the 27th. The logs don't go back that far. There were no (system information file or .bif ) files in any other movie folder. I am going to check my other desktop PC & hard drives today as they are back ups for my business. I have now removed all the extra files (system information file & Boot information file) to a temporary file. The films concerned seem to all be working without it, I only had time to watch a selection of several but will keep the temp folder for a while to make sure. It seems sorted now but if anyone has any suggestions to what may of caused it I would be grateful as I don't really want it to happen again. I use Norton 360 Deluxe with VPN but I am worried that a hack could have caused this as I don't enough to know where they came from.
Happy2Play 9785 Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 If you have Collections in Emby there is no way to remove the Collections library as it will autogenerate itself from items that contain collection information. If you have no collections then there is a hack to remove the library. On 2/2/2022 at 11:40 AM, Nutlands said: CSI series 4 disc 2 episode 5 Can you go over specific naming scheme and structure? As for bif files they are a per library option "Video Preview Thumbnails". May need to see a server log.
