Even tried disabling "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" that cause the media to transcode. &TranscodeReasons=SubtitleCodecNotSupported Tested with and without Hardware Acceleration also. Only other variable I can see is my test system is Windows 11 and file is on the C drive. I don't get the DirectPlay error like you are either. &TranscodeReasons=SecondaryAudioNotSupported,DirectPlayError

elfhiem 4 Posted February 4, 2022 Author Posted February 4, 2022 Just now, Luke said: What kind of drive is your g: drive? its an external hard drive. the server is portable because i want to be able to use emby on my laptop as well as my desktop. the external hard drive is also where i store all my movies and tv shows
Luke 42078 Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 Are you able to do any video transcoding off of that?

visproduction 315 Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 Connecting to the external drive is through USB 3.1 or SATA? You are adding a layer with USB and audio and video has to be handled fast enough to not create any data transfer problems. Perhaps get a SATA board which gives you data and power connections and connect your external drive that way instead. It would be the same as having the drive in the computer. I didn't notice if your server has card slots available to do this. On Windows this is about $30 to 40 card. It would be nice to mount the external drive in some container with a fan.

visproduction 315 Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 Some USB enclosures are easier to open than others. If you had a SATA board, then connecting the bare harddrive directly to SATA in might help the speed of transfer and then putting it in the enclosure to travel might just take a minute or two. It would be nice to find an enclosure that does both SATA and USB but I don't think it's made. For SATA connection, you don't need an enclosure. It might be nice to put the drive on a grill with air circulation. A notebook platform with a fan would work. It would look odd, but it should work and be fast.
elfhiem 4 Posted February 4, 2022 Author Posted February 4, 2022 thats fair i just dont want to go through the effort of having to dismantle my hard drive, buy a sata to usb converter, and all that just to get this working. its much easier to just copy and paste the emby folder every time i wanna use it, which isnt too bad imo 1
