Music and photo same time play question

On Android TV app I'm running a random slideshow on a folder of pictures with simultaneous music play. I can start both in random mode no problem, but if I use the left arrow to go back one picture to see the picture, how do I resume the random slideshow? The music keeps playing in random mode which is what I want. The pictures stop random advance and will only advance manually with the right arrow. I have tried hitting play button but it does nothing. Neither does Ffwd or Advance Fwd. Only right arrow advances pictures one at a time manually. I can exit the slideshow and restart but that doesn't start where it left off. If I play pictures in folder order it starts the pictures at the top of the folder every time. Not where it left off. Is there some way to just resume picture play where it left off?

Hi.  Play from that picture and it should start from there.

The Play button would normally re-start the slide show but the fact music is playing is probably capturing that button.  Have you tried hitting the "Ok" button?

Yes tried both play button and ok button, Ffwd button and Advance Fwd button. None have an effect. Only right arrow (dpad). Again but it on allows manual one picture advance no resumption to autoplay of either random or shuffle play mode.

No same behavior without music playing... Start photos playing in slideshow mode (either play all or shuffle all), left arrow back one photo, slideshow stops, no way to resume slideshow.  Right arrow is only way to advance photos.  Only advances one at a time by individual button press only.  We need a method to resume slideshow.  Down arrow shows the queue of photos in the slideshow coming up next but there is no button press mechanism to get them going again.

The play button should resume it.  How long have you waited after hitting that?

I cannot reproduce that.  If I back up or pause the slideshow with play/pause, it immediately resumes with another press of the play/pause button.

What is the device?

ematic jetstream 4K AGT418.  My other devices are Samsung Tizen TV (doesn't do music with slideshow), Roku Premiere (doesn't do music slideshow) and PC web client and Emby Theater.  I haven't tried on either web client or Theater.  I'll see how they do.  Samsung and Roku can't do a slideshow with music.

Actual remote for the device (the one that came with it) does not have a play button. It only has dpad, back, home, apps, power, google voice, youtube, netflix, google play buttons. I am using a logitech programmable that has the jetstream commands and the play button is active there.

However, the only way for me to start a photo slideshow is to use the Emby soft commands inside the app on the upper right side of screen. Once inside of photos library I can go to the right side of screen and select the play icon. From there I either Play All or Shuffle All. Works fine. But if I dpad arrow left to go back one or two pictures, slideshow can not resume. I can dpad down arrow and see the queue of pictures but nothing advances them. I can also dpad arrow right and advance one picture at a time. I can back out of slideshow and restart as either play all or shuffle all. But either will completely restart the show, not resume from the point paused or re-wound to.

A software enabled resume command should be able to provide the desired functionality. Since the queue of say shuffled pictures is still available. Obviously my hard play button is not functional on the logitech remote. Likely because the device itself does not have a hard play button/function.

I'll have to research if any of the other hard buttons on the original remote can be remapped to a play function.

Okay, so that explains  your issue.  That play button is not making it through to the app.

Is it possible to add a software resume function inside the app for cases such as these where no hard remote play button is available?  Since there is a software Play All and Shuffle All function can their also be a soft resume or play from here function?  dpad "Enter/Ok" button would be fine for this function if possible.  Maybe a momentary Play/Pause mapped to dpad Enter/Ok?
