sampsoninc916 0 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Whenever I now attempt to access MediaBrowser externally, it successfully manages to detect the time code and seekability of the video in BubbleUPNP and external MX Player Pro, but the problem lies in the fact that it consistently lags over an external network, especially at my university. With MediaBrowser and any other DLNA server such as Plex or XBMC, I access the content at home and they play smoothly, however, when I access the content externally, it suffers lag and consistent drop out issues and the video doesn't load as fast. I am currently using a dual band NETGEAR N600 Wifi USB Adapter. I don't know what appears to be not working, but can viruses cause problems like external network lag? Is it a problem with the way my university's Internet connection is set up? Is it a problem with my router? I did reset it last week. Or do you think my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 is not up to the task of streaming 1080p video remotely?
arche 177 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Do you know what your upload speeds are from servers internet connection? I thought universities were throttling upload speeds to prevent file sharing, I could be wrong. Thought I heard about it awhile ago though.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 What bitrate are you trying to stream in the client? The university upload doesn't matter since you are downloading from home, it is homes upload speed you need to worry about. Average home upload speed is 3 to 5Mbps.
arche 177 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Misunderstood this, I thought the server was at a university.
