Hey up,

several things to mention regarding Premiere device count:

- Not all devices count against that limit, browsers for example don't (if you don't use Live TV features), you can check out Premiere matrix to get a better grasp:

https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001173099-emby-premiere-feature-matrix

- After certain period (a week or so) of being inactive/unused, they'll drop off the list automatically

- Yes, you can delete it from the Device list yourself

- In number of client apps full playback can be unlocked for a small one-time fee after which they will also not count against limit (unless you use some Premiere features), check out above matrix

- If you still feel 25 devices limit its not enough, there are extended Premiere options which will increase that:

https://emby.media/premiere-ext.html

Note that for common friends & family usage (unless you have extremely large family), that 25 devices count is very hard to reach.

Hope it helps.

Cheers

But that will not remove it from the list of Premiere devices.

Hi.  I believe most of your questions should be answered in this article: Is there a limit to Emby Premiere

From that article:

How do I "knock" a device off the list?

You can't. The system tracks this automatically. Note, the devices you see listed in the "Devices" section of your dashboard are not your Premiere devices. Premiere devices are tracked by key, not by server and only if they use Premiere features.

Ouch.  Does this mean that the Firestick, media PC, mobile phone, and old Roku I retired over the last couple of years are still counting as Premier devices?  While probably still not a problem for my device count, I also have multiple web browsers on multiple PCs that I use for watching live TV.

In addition the comment

made by @GrimReaper needs clarification as it does not appear to be totally accurate.  Every time my Firefox web browser is automatically upgraded to a new version of the browser, it appears as a "new" device in my device list linked to a specific Emby login account, so the browser on one PC shows up multiple times as I use a general limited account for the family and then an administrator account for those functions.    There are still web browser versions listed from 4 and 5 months ago, and there would be more if I didn't go through and prune the list every couple of months.  Also, the Roku attached to one of my TV's appears twice in the list under different names.  I assume this is because I run both stable and beta versions of the Emby Roku app on the device or it could be that I have a stable and beta version of the Emby server being accessed.

So the underlying question for me, is how do I ascertain the number of Premier devices associated with my Premier account, and how do I prune the list of devices that are no longer in use as they have been sent off for recycling?  Are we notified only when we exceed the limit (bad) or is there some notification method when we are approaching the limit (better)?

That means number of devices you see in Devices tab is practically irrelevant for the count (unless you know exactly which ones used Premiere features in certain timeframe).

Your Settings>Ebmy Premiere tab has a status line that shows you if generally you are within limit, approaching it or limit reached.

The Devices tab does seem irrelevant as well as somewhat misleading.  I'd be surprised if I am the only Emby user unaware of how Premier devices are actually tracked.

I assume this is what you are noting from the Premier tab.

While that is notification, we may not always be checking that tab and could still get surprised.  A pop up warning when we are approaching the limit along with a reference to how we could have retired devices removed would be better.   Are devices that haven't connected for certain period of time removed from the Premier device count?

How long does a device count towards my limit?

The system tracks device usage for about a week. So you need to count only devices used regularly by your users when estimating the limit for you. It is important to understand this is a device access limit NOT a concurrent connection limit.

Thanks.  That is more than enough for my general usage.

Nope, can't delete Premiere device, it'll drop-off itself.

Quick read which should hopefully shed some more light:

Hi.  The best thing to do is not worry about it unless you actually run into a problem.  The vast majority of our users have no problem with the standard limit.

Thanks.
