Phorn 1 Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) I have a Hisense Android TV, and Emby doesn't seem to be downmixing the surround to stereo. The audio, especially the dialogue, sounds very tinny, distant, and quiet. Only media with surround audio have this problem. Old media with stereo audio sounds normal. The server Dashboard says that it's "Direct playing". Which I assume means it is not downmixing and just passing through the surround audio, making it sound bad on stereo I'm on the latest version of Server and the latest stable of the ATV app. The ATV Beta app also does the same thing. No settings on my TV nor Emby seem to make any difference. I don't really know what to do. Can I not force Emby to downmix? EDIT: Ok now it's suddenly working again; sounds normal... I don't know what's real anymore lol. Edited January 22, 2022 by Phorn
ebr 16184 Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Hi. Let us know if you run into this again but it sounds like maybe there was a setting off somewhere.
Phorn 1 Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 I seem to be running into this problem again. Specifically with "EAC3 6 ch" audio How does Emby choose whether or not to transcode audio? I figured if the client does not detect surround on the device, it downmixes it. Is that correct? Just trying to figure out where in the assembly line something is going wrong.
ebr 16184 Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Hi. Go into the settings in the app and select "Mix down to stereo" under the Audio Output option.
Phorn 1 Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 Oh I see The server dashboard still shows the audio being direct played. Is that expected?
