cul8rmom1 5 Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I have the same issue. The thing is .. it works on the latest gen Apple TV 4K (silver remote with more buttons) and not the previous gen Apple TV 4K. Splain that one to me. Or better yet make it work :D. Same server running in a windows VM with pci share Quadro card doing hardware transcoding. 2 different Apple TV’s (as stated). One works flawlessly and another just sits there with the spinning wheel. Additionally I have an issue with a couple of other movies where they are all green and weird. I have read somethings about Dolby+ etc causing it. No issues when played with Plex. I have moved from Plex to emby but somethings emby just doesnt do .. or all of the settings I have tried haven’t changed the behavior. Let me know what logs are needed. I do have the premiere action. Thanks, Cul8rmom1

cul8rmom1 5 Posted January 14, 2022 Author Posted January 14, 2022 (edited) Hello, It works on my phones tablets etc. etc. I have done support for many years. Troubleshooting old installs is tedious in every environment so I decided to wipe it off this Apple TV and now it works perfectly. I figured I would give that a try before burning a bunch of your time. Its not like its a production environment with a bunch of users… yet :D. The server install seems to work really well. For speed it utterly destroys Plex. Being able to see the frames being transcoded its pretty nifty. AppleTV apps/os have gone downhill in the last couple of years. Rebooting an appletv or reinstalling an app on IOS, to get something working is in my experience unheard of. Except for their phones and tablets I dont care for apple products. I dont use android because I get caught up in editing my own android builds etc. jail breaking iPhones was fun for awhile. On a side note. I have about 300TB of online storage and built an ESX windows 10 VM to host this emby instance. Telling it to start on boot doesnt seem to work unless I login to the machine. I know you can save the credentials and make it login automagically. I didn’t do that. (Security and what not.). I created a task that runs a start up script for the emby instance and mounts a remote network share which works pretty good. Is there an easier way to do this .. or something built into EMBY or am I just not looking hard enough to find the option? I will pull some logs for the green issues when I can. Also there doesnt seem to be a scan library option in the appleTV app… or its not intuitive enough for me to find. If you ever need help with some fibrechannel storage let me know :D. Have a good one, Cul8rmom1 Edited January 14, 2022 by cul8rmom1

You might be able to run your script as a Windows service instead of having a desktop login, but it may depend on how you set up the remote share. At the least, your service will need to run as a user with full network access. Setting Emby up to run as a service in Windows is covered here, which you could use as the guide for doing the same with your script: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159984-running-emby-server-as-a-windows-service Paul

So I am doing the same thing I just dont have to run it as a service … seems my way is cleaner. It doesnt require the installation of another piece of software etc.
