My last reply was to Happy2Play asking about some system settings.  I think the issue is resolved.  With a final few questions.  I should be able to do video conversions from the web interface or logged into the server directly but using RDP will give the errors I was seeing correct?  If I added a better video card to the server, will that help in conversions and transcoding?

Not all video cards support hardware acceleration when using remote desktop.  Our hardware acceleration setup guide goes over this:

Yes certainly newer hardware will likely yield better results.
