I am fairly active on the Plex forums and not even once have I seen any of the Plex people actually take action on any requests from the forum. They do not listen to their users at all and are often quite rude. On the Plex forums it is "The Plex way or the highway." And they are unapologetic about their near total lack of concern for the user experience. Emby, on the other hand, almost always responds quickly and helpfully to most any post on their forum. Plex support is where problems go to die. Nothing like having to continually ask staff to re-open a support thread because it has been closed due to "time". As you said, Plex is notorious for ignoring users, and the fact that Luke et al actively help users here is astounding. Mr "I'm a retired systems engineer" obviously has no clue wtf they are talking about and should just sit down and STFU.

I quit even trying to get help from Plex. That is one reason I have mostly dropped Plex in favor of Emby. I will say that I have never ever asked Plex to reopen a thread that was closed by inactivity as I figured that if nothing has happened in three months nothing is ever likely to happen. In fact I am quite convinced that Plex's forums are mostly the internet equivalent of a placebo. Posting there does not really do anything, good or bad, but it does, sometimes, make some people feel better. Emby has shown signs of becoming more Plex like but, so far, whenever it has looked like they will go over the line, they rethink and somewhat back off and, sometimes, Emby users realize that Emby is actually doing what needs to be done. The only thing I really think Emby is getting wrong is the attempt to make all the apps look and feel the same. Sometime that means taking functionality out of an app like has been done on the Roku where Emby has removed, in the beta, wraparound in rows like Next up. Their excuse is that the other apps do not have wraparound and is was/is supposed to make the Roku app prettier. What it really has done is make the Roku app dumber so it matches the dumbness of the other apps. But Plex is even worse and will make changes without even testing for side effects without any concern for functionality. I do not Expect Emby to bow to my whims but I do think that the idea of standardizing has become one of the things that most holds back some of the apps. As a point of info the app that existed on Roku for Plex a LONG time ago called "Rarflex" was vastly superior to all the Roku apps currently existing for either Emby or Plex. Plex hired the developer of that app and then hamstrung him and virtually removed his voice from the board and the Plex app has gone so far downhill that the next drop in quality may puncher the Earth's mantle.
Abobader 3464 Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Good day, Please all let stay within the thread matters, "also as personal view I do not like comparing one software provider with another either it is about support or another". To the OP, let do simple test, use any VPN, and try to download, as the answer will be mostly yes, then PM the IP's range of your ISP or the IP's you use so I can check with our servers admin bigjohn about it and see what the problem regarding your IP link, if it all clear, then again go to basic, for your system disable all protection you have and use another browser for testing. If all failed, again, connect with your ISP about the issue, what important here, we see the problem solved. My best 1
cul8rmom1 5 Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 I was going to say the same thing. Try using a VPN and see if it works. This much grief from a guy who is in Asia whose internet isnt the most stable. Why not ask the emby folks to change the oil in your car too. Seems like it would be just as reasonable a request.

A lack of gumption continues. Server errors can be fixed easily . but Finding people who understand and appreciate software interfaces must be difficult is the real sad story My first large software endeavor that worked fast was 200,000+ entries on a 8 Mhz Altos 2068 with 16 users sharing the CPU and Informix SQL .. that could give any search result in under a couple of seconds using Informix (CISAM).... eg Search issues - an example of bad Emby Search problem.... On a Qnap 451 + 16GB Ram with a 850GB SSD cache (tried on fast desktop but same issues) Movies 5341. Tv Episodes 5341I, Songs 144039 Home videos (Youtube) 16092 (that sucks too that no Youtube metadata is available) Watch the search software screw up all ideas of purpose... ) does not show recent searches ( lost purpose ) but puts up random selections sometimes ) presents random selections sometimes which do no make a search but they link to the item directly so fuzzy search lost ) does not allow category preselection so searches everything ( simplistic use of database ) ) fuzzy search very fuzzy with any close results randomly placed in result ( lazy programming ) ) does not allow exact match preselection ( time wasting) ) before search result puts up message not found ( badly tested ) ) exact matching terms not in front of result ( lazy programming ) ) does not support page back within Emby web interfaces ( lazy programming) ) seems to do the search again when one top result is selected ( and also does not support page back functionality ) put two search words like artist and song name word and see the mess ) search results variables erased so jumping between topics in results does not work etc That's apart from the galling issue of using an OS file system as a database and overly simplistic database in SQLite I do like your suggestions tho. The emby interface isnt as robust as Plex but Plex is a bloated piece of garbage now. Emby is disturbingly fast in comparison. I posted a question and got a response in the same day. I have both Plex and emby running but try to use emby as much as possible. I am running some Synology boxes but I dont put Plex or emby on them. QNAP does have better hardware but I dont like the os/interface as much. From all your suggestions and disdain it sounds like you should try another solution or write one yourself and let us all use it. Hey props on the nice sized library you have there. Or not…. Looking closer your movies = your tv episode but with like an letter on the end? Is that a lower case L? 16000 home movies on YouTube that you want to have metadata for? Does not compute … gzzzzzaarrrrkt…..(Magic smoke escapes.)
