HarryMuscle 3 Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Is there a way to delete an item from the library but not from the disk? I know I can disable deleting for a user, but that seems to be general deletion that includes both deleting from the library and from the disk. I'm hoping to remove a few items from the library but leave them on the disk. Thanks, Harry
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 You cannot do it per user, but you can ignore any items by just placing a file called .ignore in that folder and emby will ignore it (but obviously it is left on the disk). https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159118-excluding-files-folders

The items in question are already in the library though. Would placing the .ignore file in the folders in question and rescanning the library remove those items from the library? Thanks, Harry

TeamB 2438 Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 I would love an option in the settings to just drop an .ignore file instead of doing a delete. You could write a script that identifies and cleans up you files later but there could never be any "damage" done to your media lib by Emby or your Emby users.
