How to start EMby-Server on QNAP?

Hi,

Emby-Server is successfully installed on my QNAP-NAS. If I click on the icon, my Browser (Safari and Chrom) generate a link https://(IP of my QNAP):8920

But this address does not work, the server can not be reached.

Any ideas?

Hi, yes please try http://ip:8096 instead.

QNAP wants to use the SSL port, but in order for that to work you have to first go into Emby Server and configure SSL.

Hi, I did like ash1 recommended, and - Thanks! - it works.

As I am new with Emby i might have stupid question:

I have many self recorded videos stored on my NAS, and I manage them (Metadata, Covers, Genres ...) with the TV-App from Apple. From my NAS I stream these movies and TV-Shows via an Apple-TV-Box from the NAS and my Mac to my TV. This works excellent.

Unfortunately streaming the above described way to a mobile Apple-device, e.g. iPad, does not work satisfying. It is very slow, sometimes interrupted etc. Thats why I want to use Emby with Emby Premiere and the relevant App on my iPad.

The important question: Does Emby Server do any changes at the movies while building its media library, e.g. changing covers, genres, format ... or will all media stay as they are set by the TV-App?

Thanks for your replies!

Hi, it does what you configure it to do, so out of the box you should see something similar to what you're getting from Apple's app.

It is mandatory that Emby does no (!) changes, otherwise my Media Library for the TV-App is destroyed. Can you tell me, where during configuration I have to be carefull, to avoid changes?

When setting up a new library, the options for that library will all be right there. You should be fine with defaults.
